Backed swimplatform into piling
Yesterday while backing into the slip, we rammed into the platform and piece of the lip broke right off (newbee) it looks awful! It is a 98' 330 Sundancer that we were bringing home from the west coast to homestead. Anyone know the cost of replacing it ? Thanks!

Re: Backed swimplatform into piling
Post some pictures so we have a better understanding of the damage. Fiberglass is not that difficult to repair.

If you really want to get into the DIY the above link is a great place to start. Pictures would be nice.

Re: Backed swimplatform into piling
The above suggestions to get it repaired are spot on. Whether you do it yourself, or have someone do it for you, you'll still be out less money than buying a new one, removing the old one and re-installing the new. You might even check with your insurance company - although depending on cost of the repair, you may not want to submit it.
I don't know, offhand, what a new platform would cost from swim platforms dot com (you won't be able to get it from Sea Ray, anymore) for your 310DA. But a platform for a 22'-ish boat usually goes for around $1,600 +/-, not including install. I would guess that yours would be at least $2K.Dennis

Re: Backed swimplatform into piling
Really need to see some pics but....................
Not very difficult to repair. get some foam and make a template of the missing area minus the thickness of the platform.
wrap foam in Saran wrap to protect it. clamp/attach it to the platform where the missing section is.
cut some glass in strips and resin them in place, building up the thickness. make sure you roll out and air pockects.
once cured, remove foam block, sand and finish and paint or gel coat.

Good God! After reading this thread, I am... 1. Glad I don't have a boat big enough to entertain more than 6 people, and 2. Glad I have a porta pottie that can't get clogged.
