Re: Looking at a 1997 330 Sundancer, and need advice
OH WOW!!! I am glad you guys are ok. Well we went and looked at the 97 yesterday, and we are going to pass. There was just too much that needed to be done for what they were asking for it. The generator was leaking, and so many things did not work. Typical guy that that does not really want to sell his boat, and is asking too much incase he finds a sucker. We are looking at a 2000 340 tomorrow with twin 7.4 HO MPI Big blocks.

Re: Looking at a 1997 330 Sundancer, and need advice
Here's what the Bayliner looked like. It's actually not too bad because he was up on plane when he hit me and we were drifting, sitting low in the water. His bow pulpit penetrated my boat just above the rub rail, as you can see that in the fifth picture. The blue paint transfer on my boat is from his boat as it rode completely up out of the water onto the top of my boat. When it did that the top deck of my boat was flipped up almost vertically. As his boat rode up on top of mine his bow pulpit and bow rail were ripped off. I ended up with some of his bottom paint on the rub rail of my boat from where his boat came out of the water.
Then the force of the impact transferred to my boat and it was spun about 110 degrees clockwise and his boat fell back in the water. Given that his boat's forward part of the hull hit mine, and that's about the strongest area of the boat, his boat actually suffered little damage. It cost him $17,000 to repair the boat.

BTW, the jerk in the pic owned the boat. I heard from a common friend that the owner and his newly found girlfriend had been anchored in a party cove all day. They had been drinking and she was dancing topless on the boat. They had left the party cove and were headed to a waterfront bar to meet friends to have more drinks.
This picture is of his cooler. The deputy gave me permission to step on board the jerk's boat to snap the photo.

He was arrested at the scene for BUI and taken to jail. He blew a .10 at the scene and .11 at the jail. When it all went to court the BUI was plea bargained down to being stupid in public or something like that. He spent a couple of days in jail, paid a moderate fine and was free to do it again.
