    Fuel treating an MPI engine

Does anyone have a way to treat an MPI engine for the home mechanic for winterizing.

I have heard tale of adding fuel treatment to the fuel water separator (fuel filter). I have also heard pros and cons regarding gumming up injectors.
I would like to hear opinions also.

I fill half the fuel filter with 2 stroke oil, and run the engine while winterizing the rare water side of the engine.
I then replace the fuel filter. I've done it that way since I bought the boat. I haven't had any issues.

For cool fuel engines Merc recommends using a portable gas tank with the same mixture. They do not recommend spraying fogging oil into the throttle body.

I rig up portable fuel tanks per the Merc manual and run the special cocktail through the engines. Somewhere in the site is a better description and pictures of my setup. I don't have time right now to find it, but if you do a search, it may show up under fogging MPI engines.
