Stereo wiring questions
I just bought my 90 260 CC and I went to go install a new stereo. I got the old stereo out and the speaker wires are pretty straight forward but I found a red wire and red w/blue stripe wire. When I turn the battery switch on the red wire has 12v dc but I dont get anything from the red w/blue stripe wire has nothing with key on or battery switch on. I am trying to trace this down. An electrical schematic would be very helpful and much appreciated, I am trying not to tear apart the whole boat just to trace one wire but any information would be much appreciated.

Re: Stereo wiring questions
Do you have an amp? Could be amp turn on wire?

Re: Stereo wiring questions
In mine the remote turn on for the amp is blue (if i remember right with a black stripe). The red with black stripe should be power +12v. One should be switched at the ignition. The other should be hot all the time from before the battery cut off switch to keep the stereo memory from being blanked every time you turn off the battery switch. Is the circuit breaker flipped at the main DC board where your battery cut off switch is located?
This is based on my 2000 270 so it may of course be different.
Wiring diagrams are very useful and if you email searay from their website they will provide you with a pdf of your wiring diagram.

The above is a link to your owners manual but it does not include wiring diagrams. I was not able to find your wiring diagrams from what is publicly available on searays website (but i may have overlooked it). My wiring diagrams are in my owners manual. I did see in your owners manual that you only have power before the cut off switch to CO monitor, bilge pumps, and Mercathode. Hmm?2000 Sea Ray 270, 7.4L Mercruiser Bravo 3

Re: Stereo wiring questions
I appreciate your quick replies and yes I didn't find much on sea ray's website. What I did see in the manual is similar to what you said, 1 is constant 12v dc and the other is switched(via the ignition). I have found multiple issues already where wiring has been obviously modified already. I did email sea ray and hopefully they can provide me with some more detail, intern what I get I will post up on the forum.

Oh the other thing is as a gold sponsor I think you get more file and photo storage space on here. I only recently subscribed to CSR in the last 4-5 months, so I got used to doing the photobucket...
Is there a way to post pictures...
