Re: Another hero passes from us.
Thanks to all who posted here. Dad going away party went without a hitch and no stress. Mom had planned for this so everything was in order. Guess I'll be thinking ahead to so I don't cause more pain than necessary when I go.
Do they usually put three shell casings in the flag when they roll it up? I don't remember what they represented but the honor guard called out as each casing was inserted. Last one was God and family. I believe the first was honor but not sure. Any help on this?

Thanks Jason for the info. I have seen salutes but never up close before. Thanks also Dave and Alvin. Mom will need those extra blessings in the coming days.

Re: Another hero passes from us.
Sorry for your loss Bill.....your Dad sounds like a great guy and I'm sure he had a big impact on many folks he met! My Dad passed 28 years ago at 52...my age now and he served in Korea with Army Artillery. Only 50% of his group returned home. Veterns need paised everyday because of what you shared. My service was not needed when I applied but still wonder what it's like to make that sacrifice. Our Prayers are with you guys and your Mom...mine just turned 79, Mike.

Re: Another hero passes from us.
It's funny Mike, dad was raised the way he lived. Straight forward, hard working but not too emotional. I never saw him cry until the end months and I can't remember him saying he loved me though I know he did as he took me everywhere and made sure I was safe and cared for. I just figured it was his way. He was raised hard. He never miss treated any of the family and dearly loved my mom even though I never heard him say so. He just lived it!.
After leaving home mom said he would often ask if I had called while he was out and how I was doing. Sometime you don't need to hear the words when the action speak loud.
BTW I do tell my kids and wife I love them often. Can't hurt to show it and say it too.

Yay, we finally got our "new to us" 1993 220 cuddy launched and tied up in our spot. Not used to such a small boat though. When it gets up on a plane it has a major list to the left when the trim...
220 ov has a bad list to the port...
