Engine zincs

Well I've waited long enough to check the zincs on my cat 3196's. The manual sez after 50 engine hours but my neighbor at the marina sez they should be looked at every 10! Anybody know where I can get a full replacement set of zincs?

Anyone know which zincs are used in Cummins? I see it's 1/2" NPT and a 5/8 pencil but it does not state how long

You should be able to pick your engine model and they will have kits for it. Other than that you would have to either ask here or check your manual.

Thanks for the info. Nice boat. It looks a lot like mine and you've got the same engines! My Caterpillar manual sez to put 2 different compounds on the threads, one on the brass cap outer threads, the other on the zinc threads. My local Caterpillar parts guy had no idea what I was talking about. What do you use?
