Re: Problem with my port engine in my 2003 340DA.............
So...............believe it or not the dilema (at least with the short) was finally solved...............I could go into the fact that I ended up having to open up a large portion of the harness in order to trace the wires but I'll save all of you the trauma that I've gone through. So what was it you ask?..............It turns out that, after everything, it was a short in one of the "dummie" connectors that serve simply to "dead end" the harness. I guess because these engines were also designed for cars there are many connectors that aren't used. I'm going to post a pic tonight of the connector. So much aggravation, cost and work for something right in front of my face. I disconnected every sensor there was on the harness, without success, EXCEPT this one because I figured it was a "dummie".............who's the "dummie" now, right? I guess I'm just really glad regardless. That was a horrible ordeal. I'm not quite out of the woods yet since, after starting the engine in order to winterize it, I am getting a small, cyclical revving of the engine at idle. When I give it some gas it seems to work fine. The fuel/water separator was changed but I'm not sure if it might be the IAC valve. I'm wondering if it could be simply because it hasn't run in a while. Regardless, I was able to winterize the engine and can now cover the boat without worrying about it all winter. After this ordeal I'm still not sure whether I would like to keep this boat or change to something I'm able to more easily trailer. I'll decide in the spring but at least the mystery is solved. The only thing to wait for now................the mechanics final bill................aarrgghh. Thanks to all.
