Both my engines are set up this way as well from the factory. I was told (by a Merc Tech as I recall) that for the Small Blocks with factory Fresh Water (Closed) Cooling, the Water Intake through the Bravo 3 alone does not provide adequate RAW water supply to the cooling system and this is why a Seacock is added in to supplement. There is a Y-Fitting just behind each RAW water pump where the two intake hoses converge. I was confused by this at first because I had 2 extra Seacocks that others did not have. I then found out the reason was the boat was Factory Optioned with the Fresh Water Cooling System.

I have considered blocking off the intake from the outdrives all together because I am fairly certain it would be OK to do. Won't mess with that until I have to pull the engines for some reason though. Supposedly there is some sort of block off plate to can install in the Transom Assembly to block that hose. Have not looked in to it though. Kaz, I suspect the reason yours is solely run off the seacock is that somewhere along the way, Sea Ray figured out they should simply block off the Outdrive intake for simplicity since it is not needed.

Since it is a 2005 5.0MPI - it is the Horizon version? Do you have a fresh water flush port on the starboard riser? Or is 2005 just a year to early for that?

Anyway - you can install a "breaker" between the Y- fitting and the pump - and then add the Groco flush port there. Or add a shut-off valve on the hose coming from the B3 going into the pump - and then install the Groco flush port on the Seacock.
