Re: Looking for Fuel efficient car suggestions
[QUOTE=Pyrojodge;619391]I really like the cruze and seems peppy with the turbo.
what drew you to the Cruze?
QUOTE]
Mid size car at a small car price. With the turbo it is a little rocket.

I bought a new 2011 VW Jetta Sportwagon Turbo Diesel. Total price $26K. Best $26K I ever spent. Love the car forwards and Backwards.

I have a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium. 34 MPG, extremely well equipped, great European styling and made by an American company that didn't get bailed out by the tax payers.

Re: Looking for Fuel efficient car suggestions
If you have a Mini dealership nearby, take a Mini-S out for a spin. Fun to drive, good mileage, and a lot of room for 2 inside. Downside: they come with run-flat tires, that don't last so long and are $$$ to replace, and are noisy as crap when they're getting to the end of their life.
When I had mine, I replaced the RFTs with good Michelins, and all was well.1999 Carver Voyager 450

You should consider the Fusion Hybrid, it's rated at 47/47 cty/hwy.

Re: Looking for Fuel efficient car suggestions
think used Jason
I drive Buick Lesabres 1996-2003
you can buy them in the 2000-3500 dollar range all day long
with less than 60k on them
insurance is cheap and they will pull 31+mpg at 75mph.
I drive them to about 250k and sell them in the 1500.00 range and go get another one.
can't beat a good tune system, icy A/C, squishy ride, and a big leather couch to sit in while you drive

Re: Looking for Fuel efficient car suggestions
Everyone jokes about the Toyota Prius Hybrid but, I bought a new one in March and after 9,000 miles my average consumption if gas is 54.4 MPG. Best "investment" I ever made. My other auto is an Envoy SUV, that is parked most of the time now.

Re: Looking for Fuel efficient car suggestions
Jason, I was in the same boat as you. I drive ~410 miles a week back and forth to work getting 20MPG in my Buick Rendezvous.
Ended up buying a Toyota Prius three weeks ago and am getting just under 51MPG.
The biggest factor in my decision in buying a Prius was that I figured I was burning approximately 85 gallons of gas a month. A conservative estimate of 45MPG on the Prius showed that I would save 45 gallons per month. My mileage is better than the estimate and I am saving over 50 gallons of month. The savings in gasoline will offset the car payment by $180.
A boat needs no justification ... just water
Pete.
