I am considering a 93 weekender 300. Boat is winterized, owner has health issues and must sell. On the service it looks good. Yea i will survey it. The broker/ service center is willing to stand be hind it because they did all the work on it. I am nervous about buying something i haven't had sea trialed. I can get it for 17k, nada has it in the 22-25 range. Other than everything in writing what else am i missing? I'm afraid somebody will grab it if i don't act
Wowwee, your 2nd hand boat market is a lot lower than ours!!!! Got my '93 300DA for 32. It's insured for market value, 48!
What's powering it?
What is the cost of "de-winterising"? Can you just get the motors running? Offer 14k?
Having only purchased one boat, take my advice with great caution, but we just assumed we would have to replace/repair most items over the next 5 years. We did survey/sea trial tho which is what got us from 35->32, risers/leg issues.
That seems to be a good price. There is simmilar boat at our marina 29 foot asking 29,000 with twin stern drives.
A good survey of entire boat is required. Spend a bit more on the survey and get the marina to supply a person to open up areas that require removing fixed items. Do a compression check on the engines. If all looks good and I was purchasing a boat I probably would buy it provided the marina as you indicated will stand behind the boat. Get them to give you a letter stating they will fix.......... if their is a problem. If they will not you can figure out the real condition without further cost. I sold a 1982 28 footer with upper and lower helm for 10,000 without in water test.
I agree that its a great price..my 290 'Dancer with twin I/O, AC, and generator (all working) cost me $22K back in April, and that was after ALOT of shopping.
Had my survey, transom, hull, floor, decks, bulkheads all dry as a bone. Aft port stringer showd 20%, by engine. Hammer test showd very solid. Should i be concerned? Surveyor said that's typical of a sea ray
There is another AJ owner on here who has made that conversion. His name escapes me at this point. He does a lot of fishing in the NE.
My ideal set up for this boat would be a big block with the...
OK - anyone can help me please -
I just put my batteries back in and I can't seem to turn over either engine. I have both switches on and when I turn on the ignition, I get none - or almost no...
I think it's pretty normal. I don't boat often on the Potomac. But, every time I've been out I've had to be cautious. In fact, just yesterday a buddy was heading out south of the Wilson bridge and I...
The heavy recent rains wash out the low level flood plain areas which are filled with dead trees and cut wood tossed there by hillbillies or lazy home owners. Instead of taking the wood to one of...
that wasn't a rant...just a polite suggestion but a very good suggestion.
