410 DA- No hot water pressure
Hot water has been great, and was working fine last week and now no water at all comes out of any faucet or showerhead, when I turn the hot water nob. Cold water comes out no problem, but nothing with the hot water. The water pump will turn on with the cold water, but the water pump does not run with the hot water.
The water level has always been fine, so I don’t believe anything happened to the heating element and I already tried the reset button on the heater. Is there a plug in my hot water line somewhere? Would the water pump still run if there was a plug in the hot water line?
Any help or suggestions would be great.
It's a 2003 Sea Ray 410 Sundancer, with a Seward water heater
Thanks.

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
The pump only runs to build pressure. If the water is flowing it has to run. If the pump does not run, no water is flowing.
So, you have a blockage someplace.
The Hot water heater has a drain valve that looks like a water spigot. Turn it counterclockwise and see if water comes out.

The Hot water heater has an overflow valve. Open it and see if water comes out.
The water will go overboard so look on the port side of the boat while the valve is open.

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
Great. Thanks for the help. I won't be on the boat until Friday, but I'll check that out and report what I find.
Thanks again

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
My hot water pressure seems to be pretty low on my 410 as well. I need to dig into it so please post your findings.

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
I totally agree with Rick's explanation. It sounds like a blockage in the HW side. I would bypass the HWH (connect cold to hot lines directly right be fore the HWH) and see if you have good water flow. This would clearly point out and/or rule out the HWH being the culprit.

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
When I got to the boat Friday, water pressure was fine and the hot water heater was working perfectly. Of course later that night it stopped working and once again no pressure. I turned just the drain valve on the water heater and there was just a little bit of water and then nothing.
I woke up early on Saturday to look at everything in the light and it was working find again and for the rest of the weekend. When I turned on the drain valve then, there was plenty of water and pressure. I took a couple of showers and there was no problem even running the hot water for an extended period of time.
At this point, I'm going to wait until next weekend and see what happens...

Re: 410 DA- No hot water pressure
There is a check valve on the cold inlet line to prevent hot water backing up on the cold side. You may want to remove and clean it or replace it. I had a simular problem with mine and the check valve was sticking closed. Easy fix and from what you said when it works you have good flow so I dout it's much else.
