Re: winterizing 2004 8.1 mpi s procedure ??
image.jpg]I just purchased my 340 this year with the 8.1's. I also used the mixture recommended in the mercruiser manual. I had a hydraulic hose made up with fittings to accept the 3/8 portable tank fuel line and the other end threads into the cool fuel module. The gold colored fitting on the end is removed to plug the sea ray gas line to reduce any leaking fuel for safety. The silver colored fitting attaches where the fuel line would attach. I removed the the fitting at the fuel line. I also ran the motors with the mixture for about 15 mins as the manual stated while I warmed the engines for the oil change and winterization to run the antifreeze through. Each engine took approx 8 gallons before exiting the exhaust with the antifreeze. I also drained the mufflers after running the antifreeze through. I will try to attach a pict.

Re: winterizing 2004 8.1 mpi s procedure ??
Yes they are, I actually cheat and do not unhook the fuel pumps. Those raw water pumps will pump enough pink through them to winterize in about a minute, which in my opinion is not enough time to clear the filter of the mix. If you want to do by the book, the harness plugs are at each pump. Don't know how the motor would even run with no fuel pressure.

Skylark, Don't get confused about some of these posts from guys with later model engines with the cool fuel III, It's a different system than ours. If you want to use the auxilary tank method, a good place to plumb it in is where the in-line filter is in the fuel line between the tank and the boost pump/water sep filter, you should be changing the in-line filt anyway.
