Portapotty?

Can someone help me? I have purchased an 88 Sea Ray 250. I have owned several boats in the past but this is the first boat that has an on board toilet. The problem is that I have no idea how to use it. I asked the previous owner and was told that he never used it. I am not really sure if there is a black water tank or not. There is a place at the bow of the boat that is labeled "water". I am not new to boating, just to having a cuddly cabin instead of an open boat. I have always wanted a Sea Ray and now I finally have one. I hope that someone out there can help me.

I'm new to this cruiser (is a "fisherman" a cruiser?) thing too and I had no idea what was going on with my head as there was no obvious holding tank, not an outlet labelled "waste" (water would be for fresh water I'm thinking)

See if you can access the Sea Ray sports cruiser manual for your vintage of boat and had a browse thru what options there are, then you need to follow the pipes so to speak. I can't access the site, but it is here: http://www.searay.com/Page.aspx/page...-Archives.aspx

I discovered I don't have a holding tank, but rather an inlet in the hull, piping to an electric flush system, then a pipe straight from the bowl back thru the bottom of the hull - it is referred to as an "International head system" - and I can't use it within Xnm of the coast for "solids".

pm me your email if you can't find the appropriate sports cruiser manual as I'm sure the actual systems can't be too different between 88 and 93 and I'll forward you mine for some detective work.

The "water" deck fill may/may not have anything to do with the toilet.

If you do indeed have a "portapotti", then it should look like a plastic "cube". You can google for pics.

Look on the back side of the potti for (2) plastic/vinyl hoses. One about 1-1/2", the other about 1". If you don't have those, it is a self contained unit. The top part disconnects from the bottom (the bottom is the "holding tank"). If you do have lines... post some pics as you could have a couple options. But, if it's a normal looking portapotti with lines, the lines go to (1) a vent and (2) a deck plate labelled "Waste" (although it might not have any label on it).

Best thing... either trace your lines or post some pics. Also take a look in your bilge and see if you see the same type of lines (if you do have them) connected to either a small "motor" and/or a seacock on the bilge floor.
