Light on switchpad

The problem is with the switch for the water pump. When I push the switch to turn it off the pump the light stays on, although the pump is in fact turned off. All the other switches function properly. Only the water pump switch light is "stuck" on. Anyone else have this problem?

Fresh water pump? The bilge pump and LED can be triggered on by the float switch... just to be sure.

Would have to be a failing switch.

Yes, the freshwater pump. As I said, the switch works, but the light stays on even when the pump is off. I thought it might be a diode for that one particular light.

It sounds like the switch is wired incorrectly. I would pull the switch out and play with different connection configurations on the back of the switch. I am not an electrician and only offer this as how I would approach it as a layman.

if this problem just started recently the chances the switch is wired incorrectly are slim.....if the problem just started i would bet the internal wiring of the switch has developed a fault or the switch housing has allowed some water inside that is acting as a short and keeping the light illuminated.....either way i would replace the switch...depending on the kind of switch you have you can usually get a new one for around $15....just take the face plate off the old switch and put it on the new switch to keep all the switches looking alike....most likely the 'fresh water' switch is a basic 'single pole - single throw' switch or in other words a simple 'on - off' type switch....just be sure to wire the new switch the same way as the one being replaced....

I believe I cannot replace the water pump switch alone. It is one of several mounted on the "switchpad" located on the helm. The push button works fine but the green light will not shut off.

Reading my post today in sober light it was pretty lame, but in my defense it happened once to me when I had my dash panel out. A wire came off of the back of a switch and I had to guess where it went back on to get the indicator light to function properly. I did have one other instance with my windlass circuit switch, the led would stay on and so would the power in the off position... it turned out I had blown a fuse on the relay switch in the E.R.
