Prayers for all affected. Tough to read through all the posts.
I would suggest we start a thread titled "Sandy Insurance and Salvage Questions and Answers".
Based on posts in recent months regarding insurance claims/salvage and the potential for issues, seems like a good idea for this group to help by pooling thought leadership in a common place....

Re: Weather Updates East Coast??
An old friend who lives in NJ sent me this post. He finally found his boat. Sad times for so many boaters and residents of the great NE.

That really is sad, just hoping their covered and taken care of properly with insurance, boats and homes.

Re: Weather Updates East Coast??
Our boat "On Vacation" was on the hard off of the Mullica River. She is OK along with the other boats that hauled into Jersey Cape. Pictures below are from our Seaview Harbor marina which is directly in the Great Egg Harbor Inlet. Surprisingly, the marina and boats there generally did OK. No major catastrophy like some other marinas but there was damage. I think the seawall (riprap) that was built and maintained around the marina has saved this place dozens of times.
The one picture was of a houseboat that's been there for years. "Dorothy" is now obliterated. (notice the 'roof' of the houseboat floating alongside the pontoons and remaining rubble.)

Re: Weather Updates East Coast??
Well me moved the family to South Jersey in Cherry Hill where my parents have power. So nice to have running water (hot at that) and to wake up to heat. My younger kid was getting sick ear infection so we had to get out of the house.
Boat related: insurance company called with a claim number and they have assigned cooper salvage to get my boat back on the stilts as it fill off (then assess damage), but I think my Marina wants to do that. Not only that there are like 4 or 5 boats in front of mine or on top of mine that need to get off first and they (cooper) won't be able to touch that. I basically told them to call the Marina and for them to work it out who is to do what, but the insurance company is paying for all of the work being done. I find it hard that my insurance company is going to be able to move the boats in front of mine to get to it as all those boat owners have the same issue with their insurance company with getting them to ok to move their boats. I am not going to sweat it. A Boat is a boat and either it will be repaired on the Insurance companies dime or they will cut me my check for my agreed upon value. I am going to be taking loads of Gas containers to my friends in the area that have genny and can't get gas as the gas situation isn't getting better at least not today. Most need their genny to keep running their sump pumps to keep the water out of the basements.
I considering myself a pretty tuff person, but even I have to say this one has been tuff to go through.Last edited by spikeitaudi; 11-02-2012 at 10:12 AM.

If there's anything you need, I work near Cherry Hill and live about 30 - 40 mins from work in PA.
Let me know.

I find my best economy right at 3500 RPM, 29 gph @ 26.7 mph. 3600 RPM yields 32 gph at 27.8 mph which isn't bad either. For the absolute best mileage, 1350 rpm, 5 gph @ 7.5 mph.
