Bow Thruster voltage drop question
When I use the bow thruster (Side power SP55s12) the voltage drops on the Starboard battery set to the point where the alarm goes off. This happens after a few seconds of use. Is this normal? Can I use the emergency battery switch to give the thruster more power? Battery's are good only two years old and have load tested them. Battery's are 900 amp cca. This is on a 2005 340da with 2 battery's on each side.

Re: Bow Thruster voltage drop question
I would say if the equipment all tests good I would check draw from the thruster and then see if the system was engineered/designed correctly and start there.

Re: Bow Thruster voltage drop question
Obviously this is a new condition? If it has always happened I would ask what size wire was installed to carry the load.

Re: Bow Thruster voltage drop question
I had that happen when my batteries were low. I replaced all 4 batteries and alarm went away. The bow thruster draws a lot from the batteries and the longer you have the thruster on the more the draw. I have seen some that have installed a separate battery just for the bow thruster.
