Prop Recommendation

New to me 2007 185 Sport with 190 hp V6. Existing 3 blade alum prop is pretty dinged up. Sea Ray chart shows oem prop to be 14 x 23 so I guess that is what I have. Turning point 4 blade seems like an affordable option. What pitch is best? Main use will be cruising around or pulling skier or tube with 3-4 people in the boat.

I have the 14x19 SS Vengeance. It's a pretty popular prop/and pitch on this site. Takes a little off the top end but it's worth it for better hole shot and acceleration. Go to Mercury's website and use their prop selection page. You can customize for your needs and wants and they'll give you several different options.

Inspect the numbering on the existing prop to see what it really is for a start. I had that engine for 22 years and doubt if a pitch over 21" would turn into the preferred rpm range with much of a load. I used a 19" pitch on a heavier 21' Sea Ray, usually 4 to 6 persons and casual style skiing/wakeboarding. Many dealers will run a trial on your boat of a few props to see which should be used.... At least that is what service I obtained a couple of times over the years, so I ended up quite satisfied with my prop purchases. Off hand I would recommend a cupped blade stainless prop with three or four blades, probably 21" pitch.

Powertech! Makes a 19" 4 blade with generous cupping that will run well for you. Its polished stainless and reasonably priced. They will happily exchange it if you need more pitch, just pay shipping. I have the ele17 powertech for my boat and am very satisfied.

Was considering powertech myself but found a sweet deal on the vengeance. Not sure if it's standard. I agree with David, that 23p seems way high.
