Scott, they were talking about towing the boat to your neck of the woods to haul it since Oselka wouldnt. Either there or Benton Harbor where he was headed in the first place.
I guess it would have to be B&E, as trail creek is too shallow to get that boat to the well at Trail Creek Marina. Check that....it would be too shallow, but without the running gear, they may have a fighting chance. What the heck, two groundings wouldn't be too bad, and the bottom of the river is muck aside from the rocks, so what could go wrong?

Shes off the beach, floating in New Buffalo harbor on her own with no pumps necessary. I believe it will be in tow to wherever they have decided to take it as early as tomorrow.

What did they use to pull it off the beach? Did they tow it from the front to pull it around facing the lake? Any digging on the beach to facilitate things?

Re: 54' Carver beached at New Buffalo

They basically dug out some small trenches under the boat to place large air bags and lifted the boat that way. They then had the local barge with a crane come out and anchor itself offshore and connected a cable to a series of slings and straps from the bow of the boat leading to the stern. They pulled the boat rear facing off the beach all the way to deeper water and then towed it in to the marina with the tow boat.

Helps to have the right tools for the job. Thanks for the explanation. Happy ending for someone, but probably not the owner unless he somehow manages to get his boat back without spending lots of bucks. That will be an interesting next chapter in this story.

Ray, thanks for the update. I enjoyed following the story although I feel bad for the owner and all of the boat damage.
