    Freezing in may

Well this sucks, Thursday evening forecast in Rochester NY has us with predicted PM ice and a low of 23*. Being a few days away they don't have the hourly yet, but I have to assume it will be 3-5 hours at that temp and carry into the morning. The water the boat is sitting in is right around 48-52*, should we start to be concerned with low 20's? I'm not only thinking about motors and genset here, but even the fresh water systems. Last time this happened I went down at around 10PM and ran the engines up to temp to get some heat in there and ran the cabin heat to get that up to 60 or so, but the lows were only high 20's, not into the low 20's. I doubt we'd get much freezing in it overnight but I don't want to risk it

I also doubt that one night of low temps like that would do any damage, but why risk it. I'm with you: Install the heaters and make sure your baby stays warm

Good point, I could use an extra night on board this week anyways.

    Re: Freezing in may

I understand the concern, but the water you are in will keep you protected. It will keep the air above warmer than what is on land. However, still a good reason to spend the night on the boat, just because.

Now if you were on land, that is a different story altogether.

We stay in the water year round and temps go into the 20's many times. As long as the lake water stays in the 40's all will be fine.

24 degrees for 24 hours is the rule I've always used.

Spend the night on board, run the heat, run the hot water, run the engines and have a few cold ones and you will be fine and have a good time in the process.
