420 DA Thread

Did you ever track down why your fresh water pump was cycling?
I did not find a specific cause but after checking everything it stopped. I never heard it cycle the rest of the season, Maybe one of the faucets wasn't closed all the way. The boat is in winter storage now but I will be listening for it in the spring. I will post if it does it again and if I find the cause.

To All of my Friends Here On Our Forum,
I would like to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year. I want you all to know that in this crazy screwed up world we live in I find refuge and sanity in returning to Club Searay to hang out with you guys every day!! Thanks for sharing your highs, lows and everything boating!

I love that we look after one another, help each other and support one another the way we always do! We are, for the most part, a grounded, clear thinking, hard working group representing the best of humanity and family values. In the sea of negativity, doom and foreboding which we are faced with these days, you my friends, remind me about positivity, optimism and it is refreshing! There is a sense of pride in being part of this group and a constant reminder of how much I love this intriguing, crazy, expensive hobby!
Best,
Bob

On our 44DB, the freshwater manifold had valves coming off of it attached to each hose and a “T” handle wrench to cut each valve off/on as necessary. The manifold on the current 420 does not have the valves. The only line/spigot I am concerned about is the one in the anchor locker. I would like to drain that line for freeze purposes. Am thinking of adding a small 1/2” valve at the manifold or in this line to have the ability to isolate it.

Do your manifolds have the valves on them? I dread even messing with the connections due to the leaking/dripping issues. Currently, they are all solid. Thoughts/

Mine do have the valves and the hot water and cold water "T". So if Im reading this correctly you're not going to run pink through the entire plumbing system on your boat, just interested in working on the anchor locker line?

Yes. I see you purchased a new manifold. I am having trouble finding it. I only need to isolate the one for the anchor locker. With out typical winters here, no need to blow out or pink the FW system as heat is on inside the cabin, bilge heater in place, and she sits in water that rarely gets below 50*. I would like to blow out/drain/isolate the anchor locker spigot. Thanks!

Thanks Bob, Right back at you! Mike

AC/ DC Fridge and Freezer. Let me first assume when the PO had new Fridge and freezer ( They are both AC/DC) installed they only connected to only A/C as once we disconnect from shore power they do not run unless the generator is running. Am I missing a switch for these to work on DC as well or do I need to have these pulled out and connected properly to run on DC? Our Cockpit fridge runs both on AC & DC. Any reply appreciated! Mike

Maybe this will help....

My fresh water manifold is in the aft state room and has labels for each hot and cold pex tube distribution location on the boat.

You must have one for HW and one for CW. Mine is a single with like 6 CW taps and 4 HW taps. Red hose from the HWH and blue CW hose both feed the same manifold. Of course, this would work as well. Mine is fine-no leaks. I just want the cutoff valves. Might just end up adding a few valves. Of course, when you start messing with the Sea Tech hoses I have, you are inviting leaks/drips which then involves changing the female fittings. Been there, done that on the 44DB. I must have changed out 50 of those things. Thanks!

Looking for help on the windshield washer nozzle that passes through the cowl. I'm missing one and cant find a replacement. It's not listed in the parts manual and Marine Max says they cant find one. Anyone know of a replacement?

At the end of the day, that is just a 90 degree elbow, threaded on one end and a barb fitting on the other. If push comes to shove, could you make something up with fittings? Just trying to think outside the box. Then paint it black.

At the exhaust outlet for the engine and generator Searay bottom painted around this area. Does anyone know why? In 2005 they didn’t paint and added a stainless ring.
I am thinking of removing the paint and bringing back gel coat. I could always go back to paint I guess if it gets looking bad from the exhaust water.

best pic I have

I'm really not sure why they painted that area. I know that mine is gel coat with stainless steel ring as you described. I've seen the rings sold aftermarket for sure. I prefer the bling look!

Is the ring an actual thru hull fitting or just a drip ring, glued or something?….. I wouldn’t mind looking like a 2005 :)
