New Tender -- I Am Hooked

This post is giving me the itch for another tender. For my last boat, I had an 11’ Walker Bay console tender and 20hp Mercury OB with hydraulic tilt on a set of Trick davits.
The molded platform was so high and the tender so heavy, I had to mount an electric trailer strap winch in the transom locker and had a custom bridle made to pull it up and onto the davit. I also installed under water LED lights on it!

Please don't add anything else to my list! I got a portable VHF, and I have speed on the plotter from GPS but the only thing I could really use is a good depth gauge.

Over the last few weeks, top speed in the tender has dropped from 14 mph down to 9 mph

So it's time for a haul and cleaning. Afterwards -- right back to 14 mph

Wait til you see the pics I will take soon, my slip neighbor has similar been in water since last summer. The barnacles weigh more than the boat.

Definitely need to see those pics!

I should paint the bottom, but a gallon of good 33 bottom paint is half of what I paid for the boat

I might try the west marine stuff and see how well that does.

A GALLON! JFC! I am on my 3rd year with a gallon on a 250. Cut it 20 to 30% with thinner and use a low nap roller.
1 qt should be more than enough for first coat.
People slather on way too much of that stuff then wonder why they have so much build up to sand off. I use ablative very thin coat and never ever had to sand.

Ok good point I'll see how the quart does

See this pic. Last winter. Bare spots I touched up the bare spots.most people slap on way too much paint. I only touched up what missing. Works for me. That said I am in upper Chesapeake mostly fresh, can’t speak for those down south with heavy barnacles.

Or you could always go this route, tie a string to it and toss it over the side for depth, contour details and fish finding. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/665222 Jim can probably get these also if he doesn't already have them.

I can’t find the walker bay 325 in stock anywhere. They all claim that walker isn’t making it.

I found a one year old walker bay 310 ultra light for sale. Thinking about going to look at it, but it’s a five hour drive away.
