Don't bother on this 2001 340 Da. in Harrison township / Saint Clair Shores Mich. . When we looked at this one it had been sitting with the top down. The mold was so thick I'm surprised mushrooms weren't going. The upholstery looked nice online turns out it was done in Nylon denier. Home Depot flooring in the cabin. They didn't know how the do the storage covers so the put hatch covers on them that stuck up above the floor about a 1/2". Opened one of the floor storage covers to find about an 1" of with in it.

I assume this is a PSA. It may be helpful if you posted the link to the POS in question.

I find the subwoofer installed in the storage cabinet door to be more offensive than the hatches in the floor!! At least you could remedy the hatch situation without too much difficulty. :)

Bummer about it not being clean and full of water though. How a selling broker can avoid disclosing this would be beyond me...Temptation Yacht Sales...hmmm...

And that's not exactly a "I'm full of mold, need some TLC" asking price for the older body style 340...

I looked at a 330DA that Temptation was representing when I was in the market a few years ago. The boat was on the hard, up on blocks. I arrived a bit before the agent and did a walk around from the ground. When the agent arrived, my question was, "does it float?" Never boarded the boat. It was a mess and certainly not represented by them as a project boat in any way. I would have been annoyed if I had traveled any distance to inspect that boat.

What could have possibly been wrong on the outside that you would wonder if it floated? I couldn't imagine.

I asked about the floor hatches before going to look at it. The Broker acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. Big Red Flag for me with Temptation Yacht to sell a turd like this for that kind of money. This thing was listed at 98K originally. The boat wasn't hooked to shore power so the batteries were probably dead and the bilge full of water.

then you hear stories like this and think I will keep my boat.
Yes, we always preferred aside dinette table not a vbunk table down in cabin. We would probably spend more nights on it if we had a dedicated vbunk bed and side dinette table like in our 268 and 270.
After 2 years of getting this one fixed all up like we want, I read ads and think no, just no, not fixing crap all over again. We will deal with a v bunk table. We really like the Pirate Lady and after 2 years are trusting her to go and get us home. Not starting over.
There is an old saying “Dance with the girl you brought, not the hot one across the room”.

Person who bought my boat said he looked at 6 previous 420/44 DAs, all listed as pristine and open checkbook maintenance. Said he was appalled at how people keep just expensive toys. He bought my boat with no negotiating within an hour of seeing it.

BTW, am I the only person who hates the corny, over-used, BS term of 'maintained with open checkbook'?

Easy on the old style 340. We have one and love it

A lot of boats (not all) on Lake St Clair are owned by young party people who use them to go hang out at the Moot. Boat maintenance is not a priority to them.

Usually this means they opened the check book but never signed the check when they found out what the cost would be. A boat truly maintained with an open checkbook needs no mention and shines above the rest.

Guy From Wayndotte (not even on Lake St. Clair), do you have any data to support this silly comment?
Yes, I had to pause with that analysis as well. Perhaps because there is a large concentration of boats in SE Michigan, you would find a larger share of neglected boats. Lots of beautiful boats between 9 mile and the Clinton River.

It seems like there are two types of boaters. Those that party and have a boat as the location and those that love boating and everything about maintaining a vessel. Some areas are known as more party areas. Lake of The Ozarks is one example.

I often watch the videos Temptation Yachts does and they always look nice. But maybe the art of the camera angle.

I keep up with everything on boat. But there is always a what is next list. Often times it is not ready to be replaced/maintained but is getting there. Open checkbook to me often implies the owner did nothing and called the mechanic when needed.

Yes, my boat is registered in Wyandotte, but keep my boat at Emerald City, I’ve spent 3 years looking for a 340 Express Cruiser. I looked a lot of boats around St Clair Shores, Mt Clemens,Harrison Twp and Down River. I finally found one of the nicest 340’s in Harrison Twp. after looking at a bunch of neglected and abused boats in the same area.
