48 DA Owners Club

Well, 2022 is in the books. Just a hair under 70 hours on the mains and 96 hours on the genny. Winterized the freshwater systems and engine oil changes (including transmissions) yesterday. This morning, got an early start and ran pink through the engines/genny, and 2 AC pumps. I made a holding tank for pink out of a 10 gallon trash can, a PVC thru-hull, ten feet of 3/4" hose with connections to strainer caps with threaded connection. Made it really easy! Now all is left is a bit of clean up, housekeeping, and removing soft items from the boat for the winter.

As always, it's great to hang out with all of you. Sharing knowledge and experiences is what makes this place special. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

Are you leaving us until spring? :(

Out till next year, I did 120 hours this summer and enjoyed everyone of them great vessel!!!Things to do this winter are as follow:
-Figure out the underwater lights that don't stay on more for than 5 minutes (I have the Lumishore SMX153).
-Repaint my engines and fix the bilge gelcoat that is cracking up
- Replace the depth transducer
-Add led bulbs to the bilge lighting also the cabin
-Try to figure out where to buy the cabinet veneer to replace some that are delaminating
-I would like to mount a grill somewhere on the stern (platform or Storage door railing) not sure what's the best option.
-Maybe get my props tuned
-Repack the rudder glands
-Do my impellers closer to spring time
Have a great winter everyone!!!!

-Repack the rudder glands
...

I hit about 100 yours on mine. The only major thing I'm debating is repacking the rudder stuffing as well.

I'm in freshwater, so have a dripping rudder seal isn't the end of the world. It's just damn tight back there... and I know I can do it (vs. pay) but I'm not looking forward to it!

I looked into many of the grill options you state and this one was what I chose. It also rides well when in rough seas and clears the cover when installed. I love it.

Looks really good there, I got the rod holder adapter for mine and every time I used it grease would run off the side of the boat or sprinkle onto the teak floor I have on the lounge area it was driving me nuts ;)))) I think somewhere out on the platform is the best option for me or cold cuts only lol!

By the way how do you like your Highfield tender, which model do you have? how heavy? I'm thinking on upgrading mine soon....

Can't say i ever had a problem with grease. That unit has a nice tray underneath and empty's real easy.

I have a 2021 CL360 with FCT7 center console package. Absolutely perfect fit for that boat and give it 5 star rating.
Weight is 260# (boat only)
25hp motor is 165#

2005 48 Sundancer Cushion between the Aft bedroom Beds. I have a very nice brown cushion that did not leave with the boat when I sold my 48 Sundancer if anyone happens to need one for any reason. Please let me know. Thanks.

Send me a pic not sure what this is but I am interested if it is use full since I have plenty of people that sleep in that cabin

So ran into Theo from Boat Outfitters at FLIBS and we talked about what was my next project he could help with. I told him I had a cabinet that became my “internet” locker with my Peplink and Starlink equipment and I have been forced to leave the door open from the heat that they generate. He showed me their “offset vent milling” for venting on doors. I decided that would be perfect to allow me to vent the hot air but still protect the equipment. Very happy with the results. Next adding a fan to force air through the cabinet.

Change of State: When I was looking for a 48 Sundancer 2 years back, there were basically none really for sale. And the one's that were for sale weren't really for sale. Sellers just testing the waters is all could tell. Made offers but none excepted. Even full offer on one. Got some BS reply. Now: Today there are 18 "48 Sundancers" for sale on Yacht World. And that doesn't even include the "500 Sundancers" for sale. There 6 680SS's for sale. There are over 3500 "Sea Rays" for sale. 243 pages of Sea Ray's for sale on Yacht World. Crazy.

I looked for one for a long 2 years, I ended up getting a 48 at the end of 2021 I looked at the 500 as well as the 48 however the feeling on the 500’s about the pod drives wasn’t very positive, my previous boat was 35 ft long and I must say I find my 48 being an awesome vessel in every way, I get so many compliments about it it’s unreal people can’t believe it’s an 07. I hope you got yours if not I hope you find one soon you’ll be pleased with it. Good luck! Don’t wait for the market to crush it might not happen anytime soon lol, the 18 48’s in yacht world about 7 are overseas and they been there for a while 3 are under agreement and the nice ones are as pricey if not more than last year…

Has anyone installed a light to illuminate the swim platform? I was thinking adding mine to the anchor light post maybe under or over the stern light to eliminate extra holes on the hard top... please share if you have one installed on your 48
Happy holidays to all!!!!
