420 DA Thread

Don’t tell BlueOne, He loves ice makers. This was an easy exchange and for two seasons has worked great. Operates on both 12v & shore power. LMK if you want pics. I think our OEM ice maker was a U-line, I gave it to someone on CSR.com

I already gave @310sundancer shit in person Saturday night....I told him we couldn't be friends if he goes thru with it.... He said he was too boujee for fresh water holding tank ice :)

I'm with BLUEONE....

After the engines, genny & HVAC, the icemaker is the next most important item on my boat.

BEST !

it’s time to start those winter projects. I’m looking to delete the cockpit ice maker, and add a cockpit refrigerator. Does anybody have recommendations on the brand and size?

I installed an Isotherm 49 Cruise Elegance. Had to slightly enlarge the hole and it slid right in. The 12v wiring was right there behind it. Runs ion 110v or 12v. Love it.

Discovered fluxgate compass!!

Everything I have read here indicated the Raymarine fluxgate compass would/should be somewhere behind my glovebox in the dash ... but I have never located it there.

Finally I took off the starboard cubby near the Captains chair to run a new transducer wire from the bilge .... as you can see in this photo the fluxgate compass is there. Now I'm thinking that's not the best place for it as I've had some heading issues with my autopilot?

Also you can see the light grey split loom sticking out in the picture ... this goes to the bilge and is what the transducer wire runs in to go from the bilge to the helm.

Replacing my 4 in 1’s and my tachs. My dealer has the 4 in 1’s for $300ea. Tachs not so funny. I am looking for the link or info on cutting the gage cover and reusing the bezel to mount electronic display….. I have searched but got nothing. I know it’s here somewhere. Help appreciated

My fluxgate compass is mounted behind the glovebox. Remove the glovebox and it is screwed in to the left side wall. Replacing the fluxgate compass fixed my autopilot issues as the sheathing on the wire to the compass was split. I was a very happy camper once I resolved that issue which plagued me for 2 seasons!

Hi, Where did you get this part from? Or what did you replace it with? I have a 2010 390 sundancer and this part cracked and cant seem to find this part anywhere.
I don't have the link anymore....But I can tell you the brand is imprinted right on your black plastic manifold itself. It's really nothing more than a black plastic tube screwed into the wall with a bunch of pex fittings screwed to it. Just turn off the 2 valves (hot and cold) that go to it, unscrew it from the wall and unscrew the plastic pex fittings. I Google searched the brand, measured the length of my manifold, matched the image in the picture and ordered it. Perfect fit....no more leak.

I picked up a new Garmin Auto pilot for a nice discount at the NY boat show last week and would like to know if any 420/44DA owners have ever updated their Raymarine ST8002 auto pilot with the new Garmin GHC50 display and if so, does the GHC50 cover the 3.5" or so hole behind the ST8002 and two screw holes to the left of it?
I'm hoping it will and intend on mounting a JCU3 FLIR joystick control to cover the other two right holes from the ST8002.
I'm trying to avoid having to get a panel made from Technografics to cover the ST8002 holes and then mount the GHC50 on it.

Not a Da but did just that on our DB. As I recall the screw holes to the left is covered by the ghc50 but just barely. If you’re not too worried about the holes to the right you can shift it a bit to cover the ones to the left. I moved stuff around on my dash then filled the holes in so I wasn’t too concerned. I also downloaded both cutout templates and overlaid to see what would get covered. Raymarine head unit was where the onan unit is currently

I am going to be adding a sunshade via installing rod holders in the Gunnels, attaching Blacksticks or Carbiepoles (Not sure which yet), and then a shade that attaches to the existing zipper on the hardtop. For those that have done this project did you use 10 degree rod holders or 30 degree?

I think Blueone did this
This project is at the top of my spring to-do list. I plan on using the blacksticks and my factory rod holders, which I believe are 30 degrees. It all depends on where your shade to end. I would go with 30 degree holders and get as much coverage as possible.

Hello fellow 42/44 Dancer owners....I want to let you know I just got my insurance renewal here in New Jersey. I have been claims free, in the $1400 to $1600 premium range for 10 years using NBOA as my broker. My renewal with Progressive for a 250K boat value and 500K liability (no changes) has now jumped to $2778.00, an 80% increase. Are most of you facing a similar situation on renewal? Or is it time for me to start shopping?
