460 DA Owners Thread

Had the boat out for some normal maintenance. When the guys were trying to get the bow thruster zinc off, they said they could not get the "PIN" off and didn't want to break it. Have any of you run into issues with the pin and getting if off? I thought they could use some easy off or some heat to it. Thoughts?

We love our 2003 460! We added the hydraulic left and love having diesel and ALL the extra room! Of course, it's a LOT more room than our 340!

What is the trick to removing the original salon speakers?

That cover will pop off with a small screwdriver or plastic pry tool. It is a wooden ring wrapped in fabric. On my boat it was held in place with a rubbery type of glue in a couple spots. I replaced that with Velcro. The speaker is then held in with 4 screws...pretty straightforward and simple.

Anyone know where this is located on the 46? Relay for the AC pump

Hey team I know this has been posted but can someone point me to the process for removing the port lights and rebedding them. No need for me to reinvent the wheel.

I have started the task of replacing the water heater. The compartment has a max depth of 20". Whale/Seaward are 22" deep. Kumas are 21"
I found a round Raritan that is 19" in diameter. Might need to turn it sideways to allow for hoses protruding. These are around $1,000. Anyone know of any other solutions?

Man, that job sucks! I was dreading it all the years I owned my 460. Any chance you can share some photos of the process?

Will start cutting the board out next time I come to Grand Haven. Pulled out the sofa yesterday and capped the water lines. I plan to remove the entire back board and when I reinstall, make whole board removable instead of that little hole.

Just asking... Since it is so impossible to get to this water heater in the 46 would it make more sense to just relocate it to behind the refrigerator as I know in my buddies 03 there is a ton of space behind there and easy to get to by sliding the fridge out. Last time we worked on his fridge we joked about how you could smuggle 3 people back there...LOL. I am pretty sure you could build a good mount back there to install it.

Wow, you guys are working this on Thanksgiving?
I have been behind the frig. I think it might be tight. These new replacement units are a little bigger. Then you need to replumb and pull 240v lines. I am thinking this may not be as hard as it seems.

Wouldn't you want easy access to test that thermo valve once a year?

I have crawled over the top of the fridge on several occasions and I'm amazed at the amount of (wasted) space back there.

The water heater is one project I haven’t done…yet. But the space behind the refrigerator is nice to have. I wouldn’t move it personally and getting the unit back there would be a bear. I would just modify the cabinet in the midcabin to make it easier and honestly it’s probably the last time you will do this anyway.
