Hi Northern! Unfortunately, you cannot write-off the loss on the sale of a boat as it is personal-use property BUT if you sold it for more than your cost basis, you would have to pay capital gain. Life and the tax code is not always fair or makes sense.
I discovered I need a DC-to-DC Converter otherwise you will burn out your alternator and best off with a seperate charger made to charge lithium batteries for the lithiums.
I have wet cell D8's for my starting batteries and back-up for my DDEC and AGMs for my bow and stern thrusters...
I'll second that! I learned the hard way am am taking back my lithium and switching to FireFly. No reworking the charging system and will outlive my ownership of the boat (slightly cheaper also).

Good evening! I read in a post about wet cores and saw that you looked at a 56’ Sea Ray earlier this year. Was that by chance a 560 SB? I have a 560 SB under contract and the surveyor found a wet spot in the hull. Wondering if this is the same boat. Boat I’m looking at is in Portland Oregon...
