    Insurance Broker

Can anyone give a recommendation on an Insurance Broker in the area? I currently have Geico/BoatUS but I think there has to be other companies who can do better. I am hoping a broker could help me "shop around". My 380DA is in the water year round behind my house in Palm Coast. Thx!

    Having trouble understanding current events

Fox News hosts thought Trump’s election fraud claims were ‘total BS’, court filings show Hosts at Fox News privately ridiculed Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen while simultaneously peddling the same lies on air, according to court filings in a defamation lawsuit against...

    Having trouble understanding current events

Rail Companies Blocked Safety Rules Before Ohio Derailment The sequence of events began a decade ago in the wake of a major uptick in derailments of trains carrying crude oil and hazardous chemicals, including a New Jersey train crash that leaked the same toxic chemical as in Ohio. In response...

    Official 380 Thread

I cant see autopilot hydraulic fluid pumps being that drastically different between brands (Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine etc) I would assume that the pressures and flow rates would be similar, especially for boats our size with a single steering station?

    Official 380 Thread

On my 2000 38DA, (Simrad autopilot) it is located exactly where you think it is. Remove that "map pocket" next to the helm seat and you should find the pump slightly forward of the opening. Mine is mounted on rubber isolator mounts.

    Captain License Sea time question.

On my own 380DA I go out at least 2xMonth year round and once a year we do a 3 week trip on the boat. At work I run two boats and I probably put in at least 20 hours a week year round.

    Water coming through transom

Hate to say it but typically a wet spot with black ooze is a sign of coring material rot. Saltwater seeping past even a stainless bolt will leave a small sign of rust discoloration. You might have a crack in the transom. I assume your transom is cored (plywood?). If so you will want to get...

    Captain License Sea time question.

USCG Captain here.....I work with several other Captains in my area (NE Florida) and the USCG will definitely verify sea time if it is not associated with a boat you own. USCG will require a signed affidavit from the boat owner (that you are claiming sea time on) to verify that you have spent...

    A/C Not working

The A/C cooling water pump only turns on when the A/C compressor kicks on, pump will not run with compressor off (even if the A/C unit fan is running). There is a relay in the A/C control unit that completes the circuit to the pump. If you have removed all debris from the water lines and...

Tropical Storm Ian Prediction as of 0200 EDT.

We lucked out in Palm Coast (just north of Daytona)....peak wind gusts of 63mph but the ICW backed up and we had quite a bit of surge. This picture is me standing on my dock (normally 1-2' above the water) adjusting lines all day and night.

Tropical Storm Ian Prediction as of 0200 EDT.

In Palm Coast (Between Daytona and St Augustine)..currently 0700hrs, gust to 65mph, horizontal rain, water is at least 1.5" over my dock on a falling tide. I am a Hurricane Andrew veteran so I didnt rely on cleats or pilings on my dock but instead I installed two giant (8' long) galvanized...

    Hurricane

Good luck to all as Ian approaches....Extra lines, fenders, full tanks, charge all your portable radios etc etc The ONLY nice thing about having a boat in the water during/after a Hurricane is that you can crank the genset and live aboard if your house power is out for some time. Stay...
