Anyone have an electric dinghy motor? Looking for pros and cons from those with experience.

I’m looking at the torqeedos. Small inflatable for my ‘97 330DA. I don’t want to deal with a gas outboard (flame suit on).

Have had a Torqeedo for many years - works great - very lightweight (and the 10lb battery pack comes right off making it even lighter). Throw it down in the mid-berth to store it while underway.

I have an older one - it's the 1HP model. The newer ones are 1-1/2 or 3HP - about the same weight, though.

I have the 3hp version. Works great if you just need to dinghy back and forth to shore.

I work a few days a week in a marine store. We have a new Torquedo t1003 that I am sure you could get a deal on. From what I understand, they are great motors.

My 4 hp merc doesn't get my 11ft RIB up on plane anyhow so the 3hp Travel might be a good excuse to spend some more boat bucks.
Not having to deal with gunked up carbs and fuel is nice. I have 2 batteries, so I can run it as hard as I want and charge the other one and swap them.

Thanks everyone. I’m going to pick one up. Appreciate the help!
