Looking to add GPS to my 2000 270 Dancer. Any suggestions on a good unit? No need for fish finder. Thanks in advance.

I just put in a Garmin Echomap 94SV and love it. Very responsive and easy to operate.

This is a perfect example of how it is important to complete your profile with your location/waters you boat as this will help others help you with this and any other questions. Along with this information and how you intend to use the boat in general will yield your best recommendations.

If you are just looking for simple navigation, get a gps enabled tablet and run the navionics app. Set it up on a ram mount and you will be good to go.

Thanks, I don't use this much at all. Ohio River in Louisville, not going to travel much, pretty basic uses.

I to just added a garmin to my 250 da. I found the 73sv on sale for $499 regularly 799. It does allow for the fish finder transducer to be used if you were so inclined. Difference between 94 and 73 is screen size only I believe but the 73 is on sale still.

We just put an Ecomap 94SV on Thr Office this past weekend. I run a 93Sx on my 23 Bay. We also use Navionics on our phones and a tablet so it all works well together since it's all Garmin owned. Got a deal last week on the 94SV for around $700. I love mine.

Do you mean you want a GPS receiver to be used to feed other electronics equipment?

Or do you mean you want a plotter or MFD that will show you charts and your relative position as provided by a separate or built-in GPS receiver?

Or...?

Keep it out of the weather?

Thank you will look at that. No fishing for me.

As a backup to my physical charts, and the chart built into my radar, I use an ipad with Navionics, and use the same Dual brand external gps that BrettH suggests. Accuracy and reliability are great. Our boat canvas top is always on, so the ipad is protected from rain. I keep it angled up facing me so its not in direct sunlight, to alleviate MonacoMike's concern. Plus I boat in the Pacific NW, and we only have a handful of direct sunny days anyway...
