Can anyone give me a direction if this happened to them. I have a 2004 340.. After a nice run the cabin smells like crap, literally! I read it could be the hoses. I read clean them, change them, change the filter ect. What did you do to fix it and how hard is it to change the hose from the toilet to the tank on my boat?
Thanks

The test is to wrap a wet rag around the hose and go for a run. If after the run the rag smells like waste you need to replace the waste hose.

You either have a leak, possible cracked fitting or broken hose clamp etc. or the hose is porous. Either way it's not going to be obvious. If you do have to replace the hose try and use as much PVC pipe as possible for straight runs. This will help alleviate this in the future to an extent.

Didnt you just upgrade to this boat??

In addition to the suggestions above, have you checked the shower/AC sump under the salon floor? Sometimes those can get well...prettty crappy too. Especially if the pump is not working properly. The water will overflow the sump box and sit in the center bilge.

Just seems odd that it only smells after you run the boat. makes me thing what ever is causing it is a leak from somewhere.

Don't forget to use Carter's Poopy powder... And I've had that shitty smell from my gray water sump box too before I started leaving a chlorine puck in the box.

Upgrade boat? A lot of it, but not the pooper! The AC/shower box is sealed and bilge area is dry there. No smell in that area. I think it may be the hose. It's not leaking anywhere, but I did see some dry rot areas where it goes through the bulk head in the engine compartment. I wiped it with a rag, but it was 2 days later with no smell. I pumped the tank and flushed it with fresh water then pumped it again. Went for a ride and no more smell. In the spring I'm just going to replace the black hose from the toilet to the tank. I read that searay messed up using that black hose. doesn't look like a fun or easy job, but looks like it could be done. I'll use the correct marine white hose.

Seems like everybody is hitting the limits of that hose about the same time…myself included.

I've been on boats that have the ac pan drains clogged that smell after getting on plane as the water sloshes out of the pan into the cabinet the ac units are in. Has a similar sulphur odor. Check to see if the drains are clear and clean those ac pans and I bet it helps.
