Hey Everyone,

I’m looking for advice on winterizing my 1976 SRV240HT. I have the Mercruiser manual and will follow the procedure there for the engine. The boat also has a sink, fridge, and stove. I’m most concerned about making sure the water system is purged properly.

Does anyone know where the water tank is and how to make sure it’s drained? I have the original Sea Ray manual, but no info to be found there.

Thanks,

Iain

No idea where water tank is but turn the system on, run it dry, then fill it up with some pink stuff and run every outlet until the pink comes out.

The fresh water tanks usually drain out the back of the tank, so try running the tongue jack up as far as it will go as you are running it dry. That way, you keep the antifreeze dilution to a minimum.

Use -100 rv antifreeze in the tank to account for the unknown but certain dilution from residual water.

+3 on the pink antifreeze. It's PROPYLENE GLYCOL, non-toxic. If you follow HP125's suggestion, it'll be fine. Make sure you run it through every circuit (pump the spigot, etc.), and once you've done that, drain whatever you can. In the spring, fill it up, run it out, and fill it up again... drop a cup of chlorine bleach in the refill, it'll kill off any bacteria in the lines... don't drink from it, just wash with it.

Winter DOES suck... it puts a halt to boating up here... but it tends to help mitigate some undesireable things that a year-round summer would welcome... ;)
