Do you any of you have experience with electric scooters? The little push ones that you stand up on? I was thinking about getting two to keep on board when we travel, since they would store easier than bicycles.

We got a Gotrax XR elite for my daughter. She loves it, and I’ve used it a little. It’s fun.

It lasts her about 45-50 minutes while zooming around at full throttle, which is 15 mph. Less if it’s hilly. 15 mph isn’t as fast as you might think. It takes several hours to recharge and the battery is not swappable.

If you want something to replace a bike, I would strongly suggest getting one with a higher capacity battery - typically marketed as a commuter scooter. You don’t want to run out of battery because you can’t manually scoot them. These types often have a higher speed, too, like 20-25 mph.

Bought two Ninebot Kickscooters two years ago. Wife and I use them to rome around some of the Lake Erie islands. The charge lasts about an hour of continuous running.

That’s the one I’m probably going to get.

We purchased 2 GoTrax two years ago and take them with us whenever we travel on the boat. We love them because they are compact, fold up and are somewhat light weight. We considered electric bikes, but the scooters fit our needs better. They also recharge fairly quickly.:)

We carry 4 Gotrax XR's in the lazarette and we have over 20 of them between our boating group. A few have purchased the Ninebots due to needing more weight capacity. The Gotrax suit us just fine and last around 10 miles per charge. Not as much as advertised but plenty for the way we use them and recharge takes about 4 hours.

Is it realistic to run these things at 50-75% to increase their run time or are you just inclined to get in and go as fast as possible?

When riding with my wife and kids we usually run about 10 MPH but I run WOT when by myself. 15 MPH isn't very fast but it does help with battery life. Ours are also 2 years old so the range has decreased some plus they don't live in the best environment with the engine heat close by.

my daughter Scooter tops out at 15 mph. Since she’s 13, she’s generally running at full tilt all the time. I have tried using it at about 12 miles an hour, and it definitely makes the battery last longer. But, it does feel a little slow. If you’re trying to run it at around 7 to 10 mph it’s going to feel pretty slow. If you can do that it will definitely make the battery last longer.

I’ll just say that if the conditions allow it your inclination is definitely going to be just to max out the speed. Particularly if it’s one of the types that’s limited to about 15

The Segway is supposed to do about 20 mph. I’ve also been practicing going slow with the boat to save on fuel. Gets boring, but at least the boat has autopilot, which helps a bunch.

One of the guys in our group has a similar scooter. That 70 pounder's not very easy to move around the boat.
Yea I know. The wife and I have electric bikes. I have this one

And She has the X5

Hers is easy to bring on the boat. Mine is a bit of a pain. Even though it's heavy, it will be easier then the bike I think.

I purchased the Go Trax , about 35 lbs which is about all I care to lug off and on the boat. Serves us well.

I purchased the Segway to give it a shot before ordering a second one.

We have Segway ninebot es4’s and have had them a couple of years. They go 19 and last about 20 miles of real world use. We have been super happy with them. We have broken a couple of things mainly due to my stupidity but the cool thing about the name brand is you order a part from Amazon and look at a YouTube video to do the repair. I like everything about them except the cost.
