Anyone have boat insurance from AARP/Hartford?
I think I am going with them for cars. 1/2 what I pay at Progressive, $100 a month less than Erie.
I see they do boats, looking for opinions.

We only pay about $100/ month total for Erie, with 2 cars and full coverage. Our boat is thru Charter Lakes, actual company is New Hampshire. We are coastal NC.

Checked for auto with AARP, they couldn’t get close to USAA
Charlotte, 2 cars, full coverage 0 deductible,
97.00 a month.

Boat, Progressive (they are affiliated with USAA) 25k agreed value, 500k combined liability (marinas requirements) 0 deductible unless loss is caused by a “named” storm then 2k deductible
88.00 a month

Forgot to add, I am now considered an “experienced” driver/operator, still sucks getting old.

USAA is best but not a vet. Dad was but they want info he won’t give up, scared of identity theft, so I can’t get USAA.
Progressive won’t cover zodiac. They want separate boat policy on it, so I got Geico. They understand concept of a dinghy. apparently Progressive doesn’t.

That’s too bad, Does he have USAA? All my kids have it for as long as they want.

I have always been told to shop insurance every 2 or 3 years.
I agree in theory, my oldest daughter works for a large underwriter here in Charlotte and she checks every year and they are always right where they need to be on price, after being with them since ‘78 I’ve stopped checking them, their CS for me has been second to none. They are however not kind when you stub your toe, daughter number 3 had to go out on her own when she had 3 oops in a year. That was high school she has now graduated college so we will see if she decides to go back. My .02

$88 a month? On 25k?
I have AV of $12k and paying $350 a year with BoatUS. Including $2k coverage on zodiac and outboard.

I can't speak for AARP since I refuse to join them since I'm not old...

I've been with Erie for 20 plus years for the cars, very happy with him.

Take a good look at your coverage, you may have coverages you don't need and consider raising your deductibles.

I think the 500k has something to do with it.
Just checked, 68.72 a month, still significantly more than yours, I’ll check Boat US today. Not afraid to save money.
Captain Morgan and I stayed up late last night

GG, let me know. Curious what you find, seems you at 800 year. Crazy for a 25k boat, let me know.
So just ran the robot calculator,
Same coverages, $1900 year. Hmmmm.
Guess I’ll call them tomorrow and see if anything is a miss.

That's crazy. I have had the boat with Progressive for 12 years. $74K agreed value - boat isn't worth that much, but bringing the AV down to current value only saves $6/year so I keep it there to help with the purchase of a new boat if we have a total loss. It also includes unlimited towing and outdrive repair or replacement for any reason. This year the premium was $525. That is with the increased limits of $500K required for my umbrella policy.

Yep, that’s more inline with my Progressive policy. $68.72 monthly. $825 roughly. Pirate Lady is getting a great deal from BoatUS, not sure why the robot calculator is so high for me. I haven’t called them yet.

Don’t know when your renewal date is, mine is June so I haven’t been impacted by Ian or other this year major loses. Will see come June. I am looking at AARP/Hartford as a backup plan in case BoatUS Geico decides to get stupid.
Our marina offers free unlimited mileage/distance towing with slip I won’t need that from BoatUS if I quit them.

My Progressive renews in April, hasn’t gone up since I started in 03/21, we’ll see. I’m a BoatUS member, they have boats stationed in my marina, I have used them a few times and wouldn’t leave the dock without my card. Not sure why the insurance is out of whack, on my list of things to check out today. Gloomy and cold today so getting the fireplace started.

As I am sure you all know, coastal and inland lakes are very different in the insurance world. We just started a new policy on our new to us 370DA, $1200/ yr, which we were tickled with. Our 500DA was $2400/yr. This is through Charter Lakes agency and policy with New Hampshire.
