My fuel gauge is buzzing or clicking slightly and appears to be stuck on E but moving ever so slightly. I pulled the fuel sender and it appears to be fine (no way to know other than it appeared to be intact and resistor not stuck. Think it might be the gauge or a ground issue? See the video for reference....

Oh I have a 2014 Searay Sundeck 260 with a 5.0 Mercruiser

Buzzing -- although I couldn't hear it over someone talking in the video ;) -- could be loose electrical connections.

How did you check the sender to verify it was good? "Looking at it" doesn't tell you anything.

What does your Smartcraft gauge show for fuel level?

Thanks Lazy Daze....Really it was the clicking in the beginning of the video I was referencing...no so much a buzzing. You're right. I have no way to know if the sender is operable. When I removed it, it appeared to be fine but no way to know without testing it. I was just deducing that if the gauge is bouncing and clicking like that with the fuel sender connected, AND disconnected, that it is likely an issue with the gauge since I've eliminated the sender.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to access the gauge to remove it. Super tight back there and not sure what panel or what to remove.

Oh, my smart craft gauge doesnt reference fuel unfortunately.

The Smartcraft does show that... or at least it should. That could be the problem. The fuel gauge shows what the Smartcraft gauge tells it to.

This may bring us back to testing the sender. But clean/check/reattach all connections is always a good idea.

I believe you can access the back of the gauges pretty easily from behind the dash?

You got that same result at the gauge with the sender disconnected? I didn't see that in the first post. Try the connections - but also check the fuel level in the SC gauge.

Odd - I clicked through the smart craft digital display and only get water temp, pressure, hours, battery, etc. No fuel indicator or reference to fuel at all. I thought that the fuel sender wiring went directly to the fuel gauge. Could be wrong. I may need to get a mechanic on it

Sensor >>> Computer >>> SC Gauge >>> Individual Gauges

Just to quickly add... If you look in your owner's manual, there will be a wiring diagram and you can double check me.

The fuel display setting may be turned off. If you check your smartcraft manual it will show u how to enter the calibration modes(I believe there are two and you hold the mode and light button for a few seconds ). From there you can turn on/off different displays. You should be able to display current fuel level as well as current and total usage.
