Good stuff. I'm in the process of building a 69 Camaro RS restomod for a client right now. POwer is from a 540 cubic inch all aluminum BBC, right in the 700 hp range, couples to a magnum 6 speed and 35 spline Ford 9 inch.
Wow, I've been away too long. Life just seems to have a way of getting "backed up" and there's never enough time.
I'm currently in the midst of a host of maintenance and upgrades to the 500, including completely rebuilt heat exchangers, oil coolers, charge air coolers, engine room lighting...
Wow - people are still reading my blog posts!
The Acme props were fantastic on the 340. I also had a spare set of props for my 340 - the Teignbridge 18 X 22s that I had re-pitched to 18 x 23.
The Acmes were superior in every respect - reduced slippage, slightly improved economy, and better low...
Tom, I like to see the machined plastic alignment busing supporting the shaft too....I just made a new pair for my boat, since I am changing the boots, housings, and seals this week, and performing an engine alignment. Centering the shaft in the log minimizes radial loads on the housing once...
I just saw this thread for the first time. Bat signal!! LOL.
Honestly, Dean, Joe, I think you guys already have my contact information, and if not, just send me a PM and I'll get it to you. That also applies to other CSR members who may need some custom work done, ofc.

There are more pics, ofc. We've been looking for just the right boat for quite some time, and after looking at more than I care to remember, we finally realized Sea Ray, unfortunately, just didn't make the boat that was the right set of compromises for us. We wanted something in the 50 - 56...
Thanks Todd. Yes, we are both well, and we hope to see the usual suspects again soon.
Apparently, I have to post a pic of the new ride, or it "didn't happen". So, here it is.

There's a vicious rumor going around that the infamous, and long absent, Masterfab and Admiral may have purchased a new boat. At this point, it's just a rumor - no verification via photographic evidence has surfaced. If you have any knowledge concerning this, please contact your local...
They can be left in place, but don't have to be. Each rail is secured by two cap screws, in conjunction with a backing rail under the swim platform, and the cap screws are run through the existing holes in the swim platform vents, so no holes need to be drilled. I also added two stainless...
Take a look at what I did on my 340 - it may be helpful.

Somebody mentioned parts fabrication? I know I've been away from the site for a while, but I will be able to spend more time here again in the future, so if you need anything, drop me a PM, and if I can make it for you , I will.

Carter,
I'm still around - 12 weeks until retirement! After that, I'll be able to spend more time here making fun of you. Oh, BTW, we have a deposit down on a 52' Diesel Express - sea trial March 19th.
More specifically, I agree that we may need to update the bottle holder design to prevent...
Carter, the Admiral and I have had a few "dragons to slay" over the last couple years, but that's mostly out of the way now, so we have just started actively seeking our next ride - something robust, express, diesel, 52-56 foot range.

There is a check valve on each tank, at the aft top of the tank, inline with the shut-off valve, and before the filters. On an older boat such as yours, they do tend to accumulate debris over time, and can partially clog and cease to function as intended. Removal is quite simple - just...
Well well well - I thought they'd keep her longer than they did! Sounds like the new owners are moving up. For those wondering, we are currently searching for our next ride. More to come!

Mark,
The bearings are pressed onto the shaft 1st, then the entire assembly should be installed into the housing. The assembly is secured with a snap ring, so the fit into the housing should not be that tight, but you may have to gently press the bearings into the housing, especially an older...
