Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

To the best of my memory: Whole front door must come off incl. hinges. Then 4 screws in panel corners. Panel is split in two as far as I remember - top part and lower part. I think to remember it was easier to get the top one out and then I could access everything from there. One panel is...

OFFICIAL 350/370 DA Thread (2008 or newer)

on mine it was not the steering pin itself - but the surface and seals around the steering pins. Apart from that I had tiny leak from pitot tube seals. The reason was probably that the boat had been lift kept - so rubber and seals dried out making them leak. On my drives I had to replace the...

OFFICIAL 350/370 DA Thread (2008 or newer)

known issue on all 08's with SeaCore - mine had it on both drives. Both pins replaced - all tubes/rubber/sensors wires from engine to drives replaced - transom seals redone - engines re-aligned. Since engines had to come out anyway - I did it all in one go as it was cheaper than...

    310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Hi Guys, just wanted to post an update. I'm now boat-less. :( We are moving from UAE to London in about a week - and maybe next year to San Francisco. I tried getting transport quotes but getting a boat out of the UAE is twice as expensive as getting it here. So I sadly had to sell my work of...

Easy Wire->Wire attachment for things like NMEA 0183 and other wires

While soldering is not super on a boat for many cables - I spotted the below product - I think that would be great for things like NMEA 0183 wires or other thin signal wires. It is a Solder Sleeve - where you plug the wires in from each end like a crimp wire connector - but then you use your...

The skyhook operates independently of whatever VV you have installed. It is embedded into the "software" in your Axius engine control system. I have the buzzer installed - but added an off switch :) so when I'm out with family that I know won't be on the swimplatform - I can disable the alarm...

    Best Multimeter? Fluke, Fieldpiece, others?

Any Fluke 87 (I, III, V) is perfect. Finding an 87 model in Automotive version (extra accessories are included) can be a benefit for boat usage. Else Brymen series if you want to go cheaper but still great. I use Fluke 287/289 but that is because I use them for my other electronics work. They...

    baby life jackets

nope.... it is not a question IF the child can holds its own head. It is a question that in a PANIC situation a child is "forced" by the life JACKET to keep its head above water - conscious or not. But leg strap is also a necessity - and zip AND straps.

Radar install, any tips or tricks please?

Most SR will need 4-6 degree wedge for "on the plane" radar use. I have a great radar so I manage with 3 degrees :) using stainless steel spacers - as I often just puddle around at 6-7 knots. But the old Garmin 18HD will need to be tightly calibrated. The new Garmin xHD domes are not as...

    baby life jackets

Yes - big neck flap - big enough to support their heads above water. A real life jacket can be tested in the pool - and you will see the kids will have a hard time doing breast strokes as the life jacket will turn them around. Then their heads come to rest on the neck/head support. And training...

Radar install, any tips or tricks please?

1"-2" distance - I run my VHF in the top of the side conduit and the radar in the bottom - so 2-3' between them. My Radar control box is in the side panel - so only VHF cables go up under the helm. If you listen on VHF when people are talking you can often hear a tiny 'squeek' every 1 1/2 - 3...

    baby life jackets

for kids less than 5-8 years - never ever let them wear anything without the neck support. So it has to be a LIFE JACKET and not a SWIM/SAILING VEST. The neck and life-jacket is made so the child WILL be turned face up - almost no matter what - and the neck part is there to support the head...

    OMG my moms eyes

Think positive and keep her entertained - I lost my mother and grandmother in a 2 week timespan over Christmas and new year. Unfortunately my mother passed before my grandmother so that was very hard on my 96 year grandmother - but my grandmother then got her wish to be put to rest with my...

Upgrade VesselView "Classic" to VesselView 7

Mike - the SmartCraft interface in the 5ECD SHOULD work - if Merc will put some effort into it :( but they are a bit lazy in that department. So I would pressure Merc BEFORE you buy a $350 gateway. But Mike - see if you can find a Lowrance EP-85R :) - it is a fuel consumption monitor that just...

    310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

No old VV's need a Merc Tech on board to upgrade. And they do just plug in a USB stick -but I think they also do a system "update" to enable the "Premier" features of VV and take the boat out to calibrate the compass/heading sensor.

Upgrade VesselView "Classic" to VesselView 7

Here is some general VV7 installation advice I sent BBT in a PM. WiFi- I have kicked out my CradlePoint - and gotten 2 x Simrad Wi-Fi1's - one for "Internet Connection" and the other for "On board wifi" - it gives better control from MFD display - but I'm working with Simrad right now to get a...

Upgrade VesselView "Classic" to VesselView 7

As Mike said - easy peasy to setup :) Only thing that should work but does not is the Kohler 5ECD interface. I can not get that to work at all. I have reported it to Merc but so far not fix. I have not been able to get freshwater/waste in there yet but I might find a solution for it soon :) The...

    thru hull transducer placement....

a P79 (which most use for In-Hull) will have a hard time shooting through the glass on the SR. I have an M260 "in-hull" a much bigger one and that still have some issues on my 310. So arm yourself with patience and get a friend to help. Sail to at least 100' of water - drop the ducer in the...

    310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Hmm I think your vesselview is too old? It should be 4.0.0.60 - not 4.0.0.20 I think. Please check with Merc again - I don't have my old VV in my boat any longer as I have upgraded to VV7. So I do doubt the Merc tech has done right by the PO.
