the operating systems would be the ancillary systems. they contribute to the operation on the boat but each is a separate part.
say your hand is a boat and each finger is separate, but they work together to make the hand function.
battery condition and charging, starter, cooling system...
these boats are getting to the age that condition is more a factor of maintenance and care the unit has received .
as any sea ray i have been around, well thought out and constructed. lots of built in storage.
over the years the only problems i have had are as follows
the cabin hatch door...
with set the up on our boat, the chain weight in the bow is a good thing. that is a good point however.
i measured the diameter of the links and is 3/8 for sure. not sure how you measure link length and width though.
100 ft of chain rode is about what are 310 came from the factory with, will double check when i get to boat but 85% sure its 3/8" standard galvanize.
S.S. would work but would be more pricey.
wouldn't use plane old chain as it will rust. would likely work but will get rusty and make a mess.
port or starboard?
my 310 has 2 tanks. one for each motor and the genset draws from port as well.
there is a panel on each side of the engine hatch. either one can be removed. this is how i access batteries on starboard and water heater and holding tank on port.
wow, you have my setup there. my props are standard 3 blade and not polished. my clips or what ever yu call them are red.
bet the 4 blades real bite and go.
going back to bull frog the 9, 9th. not sure yet if taking 230 or 310. can take the 230 down and back on what it costs for permits on the...

hi tab man;
my 88 230 has a 4 button switch on the dash.
the switch part works fine and is in good condition, the bezel that holds it in is sagged from age and allowed the switch to set lower and not stick out the top.
it looks like a new flat bezel would cure this problem.
is a new bezel...
gary,
not realy any advice but just got back from powell last night. had the 230 down.
the water was running about 83* in the afternoon to 78* at day light.
the lake level was dropping around one inch a day.
didn't get to do much star watching as wa a full moon, which was beautiful any way...
YES use the snap on covers. this would help as much as any thing with gas milage ,keep most of any rain out, keep your stuff from blowing away, keep sun and prying eyes off interior. we never tow either boat without cock pit cover installed.
another yes to close every thing you can.
towed our...
hi; the slang term for the curved couch model was the jack and jill head. these were the first of this model year, and maybe second. they went away and the open floor plan came out. a matter of preference to which was best. personal we like the open arrangement best.
the curved dinette models...
thats neat,
lot of peeps from G-J at bull frog on powell. don't know them personally but might recognize there boat.
when jerry retires, thats what we hope to do with the 310. just travel and spend time seeing different lakes.
must have missed him. the lake was busy.
took the 230 and laid up at antelope point each night. nice marina. will bring the rest on the lake up to scratch.
b-3 on the 230 makes it snappy. need to use it more but lack of a c makes it harder to take on the hot days.
thanks will have to check this out. found out can't at powell or flaming gorge. federal recreation area.
have to have permits ect. to rent on lake.
might be able to rent off lake and launch at lake.
every one thats doing business on the lakes, have concessions.
