    Need help.!

The rod has come up a few times in the 58DB thread, and now here... and we don't have one... So I just asked TayorMade if they could supply detailed assembly drawings for the door and the frame... no joy. "... since we no longer producing this assembly and it's not active in our system, we...

Morehead City to Norfolk - where to stop overnight?

Yeah, we got beat up crossing the Albemarle last week. Beam seas, wave splash over the hardtop, mostly couldn't see squat through the enclosure... Even tried tacking, limited success but that puts the boat out of the "channel" and into the crab pots. Somehow the top fridge drawer came loose...

Morehead City to Norfolk - where to stop overnight?

Likely choices northbound from Beaufort are: - Oriental or River Dunes - Belhaven or Dowry Creek (not the latter, if storms from S or SE) - Alligator River Marina - Coinjock - Waterside (Norfolk), Tidewater (Portsmouth) or Bluewater (Hampton) - Deltaville, maybe (haven't stopped there), or...

    Need help.!

Schwepper will have made the latch, locking cylinder, handles, etc... and their U.S. Distributor is The Brass Works, Inc. You might get some useful info from them. But... the rest of our door itself was made by (or for) TaylorMade, and that may have included the framing, trucks (rollers)...

The Schwepper latch appears to be GSV #3801 SZ or similar -- although with only an approximately 35mm backset: Mortise sliding door lock for cylinder complete stainless steel | GSV-No. 3801 SZ (schwepper.com) The thumbturn cylinder appears to be #391 or similar with the large knob (#5602)...

Sorta. When you go on The Brass Works Inc site, they have the Schwepper catalog... and looking through the various segments helped me sorta home in on the probable mortise latch (for cylinder) we have, and the probable locking cylinder. The last bit comes down to actual measurements, and...

Yes, we've tracked down the U.S. distributor for Schwepper -- The Brass Works, Inc -- and they've been very responsive. The lock cylinder can sometimes (often?) be repaired, for example, and they do that kind of work... or they can sell individual replacement parts. I haven't followed up with...

Well, Spectra does make watermakers, and that's how your filters are labeled... Maybe the boat had a watermaker at some time in its prior life? Sea Ray started doing that over these last couple years. And then you're at the mercy of a local dealer who may or may not have a clue. That's how...

Yep, I have 5101780 for the $$$$ lockset replacement kit. Confirmed just recently by the nice Taylor Made lady. Includes plates and levers... Our door part number is apparently 7031050006. Which may explain the technical differences in the way yours works (I think you said earlier that...

Ha! Unleash the dawgs! That worked. Ours had been locked, but I unlocked the blue clips -- and slightly turned the handles so the clips can't fall back into their locking raceway... And then went outside to test. I didn't fully unlock one, but I turned it enough to prove the concept...

Yep, I think that's exactly what The Brass Works guy intends, although not exactly "local". Ahhh!!!!! Excellent! I'll undo our locking clips there!!! Thanks!!!! -Chris

LOCKED OUT! Our sliding glass door lock failed, recently… horrible timing because friends had been visiting and needed to get inside to retrieve their stuff so they could leave on schedule. And it turns out there’s no other graceful way to get inside the boat. Forward hatch? Mean breaking...

RUDDER ANGLE INDICATOR SENSOR/GAUGE Looking at it yet again. <sigh> I spoke too soon, earlier. The 10-180 Ohm VDO sensor does indeed move the needle on the existing display gauge, but... not perfectly. My earlier trial was only about whether the display needle moved, and I hadn't thought...

Yeah, I didn't check those in any of the low voltage AC systems. I'd assume they'd work with the ON/OFF switch as advertised... just guessing, though. Also dunno if there might be any intermediate brightness control also possible on one of the two low voltage AC dimming circuits. -Chris

I don't know if these new self-dimming LEDs will work in the low voltage AC circuits. Ours in the galley and saloon already have dimmers on those circuits, so I saw no need to try. The original LED discs we tried from marinebeam do work in the low voltage AC dimming circuits, though...

This one is a simple swap. As are most, except in some dimming circuits. The DRSA "Li'l Inagua" overhead light fixtures in this case are a bit fiddly -- springs holding the fixture to the ceiling, smaller springs holding the reflector to the lens -- but that's just a some "mechanical" details...

    LED Cabin Lights

No real issues inserting the LEDs, just a little fiddly. Yeah, dimmer dinette lighting would be nifty! See previous discussion in the 58DB thread starting at post #1461. Our two dimmer circuits are on the low voltage AC lights, one set over the sink and then the over-couch lights in the...

    LED Cabin Lights

We have a boatload of DRSA "Little Inagua" spring loaded aimable (slightly) puck lights, some on 12VDC circuits and some on low voltage dimming AC circuits. Dimmers work "OK" but more like bright or soft, instead of cull range. We replaced most of the incandescent (halogen/xenon/whatever)...
