Boat looks nice. Real clean. Can't help with the oil results, though. As far as towing, keep an eye on your rear axle rating. When I was looking at towing my 220BR, I found that pretty much any half ton can tow it if there was NOTHING in the truck. But as soon as you add people, gas, and...
My boat is towable, so it lives next to my house, under a cover, with a Davis Air-Dryr and desiccant buckets, under a metal carport. Peeked under the cover after our week in the teens n twenties. Everything is still there, no bugs rodent or mold issues (never has with this setup). Batteries...
Went camping on Alder Alder Lake in Washington State. Not technically an official mooring, but it's out of the way and not blocking usable shoreline, so the campground hosts let it slide (another reason it helps to be kind to people).
The ONLY downside is it's not completely protected...
I haven't torn mine up yet (1994 220BR), but I'm certain it's epoxy-painted marine plywood. We have boats that just missed out on the fiberglass floors. If my bilge is any indication, my floors are a dull blue-gray epoxy paint under the carpet. Not as pretty as the white fiberglass surfaces...
Fiberglass coming loose from the wood, to me, is a sign there is extensive repair work needed. The only reason it would come loose is moisture or rot. If it was still sealed and it was coming loose, that's still bad. And if fiberglass is coming loose, it's a fair bet moisture has ingressed...
The rotomolded coolers like Yeti are everywhere now. And they work well. Problem is, they also cost 2/3 or more of the price of a Yeti. Rtic, Blue, Monoprice, Orca, Amazon... made overseas or in the US the price isn't that different any more. Yeti is still the king as far as I've researched...
Please post your results over time as well. For me, it's way too soon to judge the usefulness of Powerlock. It has a solid track record on cars for sure, so I'm not thinking it's bogus. But the test of a sealant is never immediate results, but longevity. If there's anything I've learned from...
I've been debating adding a tower, too. Just make sure whatever you do, reinforce the crap out of the area you're mounting to. Wakeboarding didn't get popular until the late 90s, so my boat in particular ('94 220BR) was never designed to have a tower putting loads on those areas (I don't...
I'm trying something different this year. I know vinyl is a very durable material, but I feel all-purpose cleaners (APCs) and degreasers are a little overkill for my routine cleaning. Simple Green and other APCs are lightly alkaline, and most degreasers are severely so (for reference, Spray 9...
Haha, I'm going to look this up in my area. I looked at the satellite view of google maps of my nearest favorite lake to get some reference and 100ft is not very far from things at all. Hell, my boat is nearly 1/4 of that.
EDIT: Fo WA State, I can't seem to find rules for how far away...
If a corner is blind, you shouldn't be approaching it at speed anyways, skier or no. Always give enough time to react to things hidden, and if that means slowing down, do so. It may not be a fisher next time, it may be another fast-moving boat approaching the same blind corner from the other...
That always feels nice. That was pretty much my same experience last year. My 94 220BR is carb'd, though, so I just gave a few priming pumps of the control lever, engine cranked for a couple seconds and fired right up. Going to do mine this year in a few days, so we'll see if my luck holds, haha.
Best bowrider?
MINE!
Haha, I love a lot of things about my old '94 220BR. I'm glad I went bigger for my first boat. It's been great these past couple years. Especially considering the excellent condition I got it in and low price I paid. No better way to get into boating. BUT, the seat...
I stream (or download) using YouTube Music. We're an all-google house and spotify has let me down too many times. The regular "High Quality" streams are more than adequate for 99% of listening. The improvement HD/lossless streams bring is only barely noticeable to our hearing in the best...
