I think every Hatteras has a cored hull!

I think he's meaning to say cored bottom(vs. solid fiberglass bottom). The hull sides on many/most boats are cored.

I personally don't have an issue with cored bottoms as long as things were maintained, sealed & caulked well over the years and there was never any major water intrusion into the coring AND how it was stored/shored. A good structural surveyor/survey will tell you if it's serviceable or rotten.
