Fellow boaters,

Has anyone ever experienced the level in the outdrive reservoir rising to full capacity of the container? This has occurred on my starboard motor. It must have occurred last week when we had taken the boat out on the lake. Prior to departing I always check the levels of all fluids. The level was right below the top mark in the operating range for both outdrives. The color was a lot darker green than the fluid in the port side motor reservoir. I removed the excess by dumping into a small container. We will be going out on the river tomorrow and I will monitor the level to see if it rising to full capacity in the drive oil reservoir. If anyone can give me some things to check to possibly troubleshoot this issue, I surely would appreciate it.

While the fluid may expand a bit with heat, if you see the color changing to a lighter green then that most likely means water intrusion. Although the Hi-Performance drive fluid can deal with some water intrusion (unlike traditional drive fluid), I would NOT run it any more before you get it checked out. It needs to get pressure tested to see where the issue is.

Lazy Daze,

I appreciate the information and the good advice to have it checked out.

Lazy Daze,

I thought if there was some water intrusion from somewhere the fluid in the reservoir may be somewhat of a milky color? What does it involve to do a pressure test on that outdrive?
