New to me boat. Have had it out only a few times. Looked over engine tonight and noticed that the serpentine belt is not installed as per the diagram. Is this a big deal? Last owner said the last maintenance was a replacement of the starter.

Should I reroute or ask a mechanic to reroute the belt or leave it as is?

Thanks!

Re route it. You’ll have more belt contact on The alternator, circulation pump and the raw water pump.

It’s a simple procedure. 5/8” box wrench and a 5/16” socket on a long handle (for leverage) is all you need.

+1 with @Espos4, definitely reroute it. Not a big deal to do, and another consideration is there could be less (or more) tension in places now causing early belt failure. Notice this almost sounds like I know what I’m talking about. :p:p:cool:

Re routed it today. Seems great. Upper right pulley is quite a bit lower but it is running well.

thank you
