Compound is up big time.
Last time I bought it it was $20, now $45 a quart.

So the Dewalt 20V cordless polisher is a bust. I like the convenience, but I think they put the speed controller in the handle and it get so hot, it actually burned my hand. I thought about keeping it around for small touch up work, but its going back unfortunately. Very disappointed.

its absolutely getting stupid..... I make custom screws for a customer....I sold the screw machine because someone offered me stupid money for it.... so I get another order and quote it out....price comes back at a $1/10,000....I said to the shop manager double it....he comes back a bit later and said we sold 10,000 last year for $8/pc....oh shit I said mark it up 6% then.....we got the order Friday.. Its gotten so bad customers expect to pay stupid money for stuff

Ok, I need some recommendations on a soap to use that will not dilute all my hard work of buffing and waxing this spring. I’ve read about the water cannons for dispensing soap but not in the cards this year. I have used the Woody Ultra-Pine Wash & Wax Boat Soap in the past. They state “specially formulated to not remove waxes and leaves a wax finish”, but I’m not totally sold on that.
Anyone using a tried and true product that won’t take the wax off?

I used Orpine in the past and now I use the Purple smelly stuff recommended here, Smoove Purpleicious. Both work well IMO.

It looked good after the compound and polish. It looks good right after applying the StarBrite. I showed up 2 weeks later, (covered slip) washed off lots of bird poop, dirt, grime, etc. and it looks bad again. Agree with @Blueone, which is why I think of them as a door matt.

Purpleicious gets the nod this year. Next year it will be something else. Lol :)
Thanks everyone!

I don’t know….. I tried it and wasn’t impressed….. swim platform takes a beating… I think you just accept it’s a summer long upkeep no matter what you use
Oh, swim platform definitely takes a beating on a daily basis. I use the star brite to clean the platform every morning we use the boat. Every night when we come in and unload, the platform looks like sh!t again. But the star brite makes it easier to clean the next morning or the next weekend than anything else I have used. Ten minutes with a deck brush and good as new. YMMV.

I used to use Orpine wash n wax but figured out last summer that it actually left my boat looking more dull about mid season due to the wax additive in it. Went back to Starke Pure Clean and found the boat looked whiter and brighter all season long. The wax additive in most of these all in one products usually does more harm than good if you have a polymer polish or ceramic on the boat. Really, the key is to use something that is PH neutral to protect whatever finish you have on the boat.

This is how I keep my swim platform looking clean all year, I gave up on trying to keep the foot prints off the white non skid.

Cool picture.

Question for those who detail and wax in the water. What do you use to get to the water line? Some sort of raft? Do you lay in the dock and reach as low as you can go and call it good?

When younger, would go to shallow sandy area. Anchor, get in water and wax. Now? Fuggedaboutit.

I had hired a crew in the past who did great work and used this stiff float for the sides... This year the owner hit a cow (yes, a cow) at 55 mph at night. He was out of work for 6 months and won't return my calls now. I hired another guy who is local and well respected.

He calls me up and tells me the job is done. I go to inspect. Not exaggerating but he might have done 30-40% of the total boat. Literally just stopped mid panel and must have said the rest looks good, he'll never know. I called him up and he returned. I showed him everything and he said he would return today to finish it. My neighbor checked him camera and no one is there. I paid the guy 50% down too. I guess I'm going to have to do it myself. My back really can't handle a buffer for days on end.
