I have a "new to me" 280 Sundancer 2003. The port lounge is - as best I can describe - a two-parter, with an upholstered divide between the fore and aft sections. The aft section will extend/slide further aft creating something of a sunpad with the fore section. There is a "bolt" with a knob at its end that is uncrewed to let the aft section extend/slide aft - with the seat in the un-extended position the bolt/knob is screwed back in to prevent the seat from extending. Well, I need to buy a new bolt/knob. I have no idea what this part is called nor do I know the part number. I really can't find any information regarding this part anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have a copy of the parts manual for your boat? You can download it free from the searay website if not, it's immensely helpful. Otherwise a searay dealer can look up the part for you and order it.

If you haven't already, given your recent questions on the 280, I would HIGHLY recommend that you search the 280 thread and read as much of it as you can, time permitting. It's an absolute wealth of knowledge about that model and helped me through dozens of projects.

There is no part number listed on the parts manual for the knob itself but it’s an easily sourced part. Search for knob, male and you will see what you need.

Your local dealer likely has some in stock. They'll know exactly what you need when you describe it to them. However, you can make one easily enough - it could be done as simply as using a brass or SS bolt that fits. I don't recall the size offhand, but it's a regular size - maybe 1/4-20 or 5/16-18... something like that. You can step it up a notch and either cut the head off or just use threaded rod and make/purchase a handle.

I do have a Owners Manual & Parts Manual... They cover a whole lot and are really interesting, educational and useful. The only thing I can find regarding my specific question is parts numbers 1689927 & 1690167; I find nothing specific to the knob - no part number, description, etc. Thanks for the advice, I will talk with my local dealer.

How do I access the 280 thread - I'm new to this site and not sure how to navigate to the thread that is just about 280's.

Again, thanks.

Thanks, I'll get with the local dealer. Here, in Charleston, WV we don't have a very vibrant dealership - not mocking the one we have - it's just the way it is (I think he's try to sell the business).

I first have to remove the broke-off bolt that is in the threads now - not 100% sure how to get it out but that's job one. Once I do remove the broken bolt, I can use any like bolt until I can find a true replacement.

Thanks for the advice & replying

Nauti,

My local sea ray dealer, B&E marine in Michigan City, Indiana is super helpful over the phone and always willing to order parts and ship them direct to me. Look them up if you hit a dead end on getting dealer parts support.

Start spraying it with PB Blaster once or twice a day. Put a rag under it. Then you'll drill it out and use an easy out. I realize this is a tough area - you may need an extra long drill bit and extensions for the easy out.

The "real" knob is just a simply bolt with a plastic knob on it. I actually made my own because I always felt the "real" one was too long and would get bumped and then break off.... ;)
