460 DA Owners Thread

I installed that brand for my cockpit air a few years ago. Worked great!

Thanks for the feedback. I know, maybe I'm picky, but in my cockpit in the summer, when it's 90* or above, good luck cooing that area down. Did you upgrade to a bigger BTU version? I don't think 16k btu is enough for our size of cockpit. Thoughts?

I did the 16k because nothing else would fit under the seat.

That being said, we get very few 90 degree days up here. Although it does get hot, you’re correct it has trouble keeping up. We added windshield shade/screens and back canvas shade/screens which are HUGE at reducing heat. We drop an easy 10 degrees with our shade/screens up.

We have also cranked the salon ac to meat locker mode then placed a fan at the base of the stairs to blow air up to the cockpit and that really helps. We can get it very comfortable in our cockpit when needed.

I have shades on the front windows haven't done back ones yet --- that's coming. But man, it gets like an oven in there. I guess I could set the salon to meat locker and do as you suggested -- I haven't tried that yet.

I can't help but wonder if there's no 24k or 32k btu unit that will now fit under that seat?

Finally got the flag pole mounted! Thanks for your help and suggestions!!

Has anyone ever replaced the inside panel on their 460 windshield? The frame around our windshield vent is thoroughly corroded and I would like to just replace the whole thing if possible. Anyone else have this issue?

Our camper has minimal vertical canvas and has a nice clean look to it. Not cantilevered because it's a large area. The top is Seamark, I believe. Dual Sunbrella and Stamoid. Our first camper got 8 years of service and this one is on its 7th. Normally we don't have the side flaps partially open like in the photos.
Strataglas is heavy/thick. Takes about 4 minutes to zip out the panels and a little longer to zip them back in. Because of the large cockpit, everyone seems to hang out on our boat. In the Great Lakes at least, a camper is the way to go for this boat.
Cockpit heat/AC is a must.

That looks good!

Well Gents,
It has been a GREAT 6 years on the 460 Forum. There are so many GREAT boaters on this thread and I have learned a lot by being a part of it. THANK YOU!
The paperwork is done on the purchase of the 510 and sale of the 460. Just awaiting the survey on Monday, then we make the move up. We found an absolute beauty of a 510 in Northern Michigan and we finalized the deal on my wife's birthday, so that was an added Bonus. I am not sure who is more excited, me or her.

It's been great and I will check in from time to time! Thanks to all of you again and enjoy the rest of your summer boating season!
Bill (AKA The WolfTC)

Wolf, enjoy the new boat.

I haven't replaced it but a metal polishing compound and a buffing wheel do wonders to stainless steel.

I think he’s referring to the vent window frame which is a separate assembly framed in aluminum not stainless.
The company MAY be able to make a new one if they still have dimensions?

I have recently been emailing with Taylor Made Systems about a center window vent gasket for my 510. As luck would have it, Taylor Madre Systems was purchased this year by Lippert and they can't seem to find files dating back to 2000 on the windshield system.

Here was the recent response from Lippert after I was able to find the windshield part number they requested. To get the windshield part number I emailed Sea Ray and they connected me with Colony Marine.

From Customer care at Lippert:
I am still not able to pull that part number but again being a 2000 we would not have record. I have reached out to a teammate to see if maybe they have some idea of what you are needing. Once we hear back we can let you know.

Just in case you were trying to find a replacement center vent frame, it doesn't sound good.

I just changed my (2004 550DA) windshield vent window gasket in April. I went with the WS80 Trim from SeaRay-Parts.com (Flounder Pounder). It worked great.

Did you do any special trimming or did it simply go into place. FP says to use a "glue" to hold it in.

Trimming was with blade knife and/or small tin snips, can't remember as I changed the windshield screw covers at the same time. I cut everything a bit long as it shrinks over time. I didn't need glue but did spend a few minutes cleaning the surfaces. Clean the groove out with a small bush. The arrow point portion of WS80 seats into the groove.

Need to replace throttle cables on our 2001 460 with Cummins 6CTA- seeing numerous cable lengths in the parts manual. has anyone replaced these before with the same engine setup and if so, do you recall the length? I don't want to pull them only to find that our local store doesnt keep the right size and we have to put the boat down until we can get them.

I am going to hand a TV on the wall between the galley and head. Does anyone know how thick the wood is on that wall?
