460 DA Owners Thread

Yes, same windless and words flawlessly. Just make sure you aren’t trying to pull the boat with the windlass. I am sure you already know but I’ve seen countless people trying to use their windless to bring the boat to the anchor and it’s mind numbing. Also just so you’re aware and not afraid, you might end up having to run over the ultra because it digs in so well…. Just run over it, pick up the slack and repeat until you get it on on the boat. :). I’ve never looked back. Oh and it’s also likely that the windlass company will say their windlass isn’t rated to 60lb anchor — not sure but I’ve never had an issue and have been more than pleased with this anchor. I wasn’t pleased with the price but…. I guess you pay for quality?
Thanks again. All good stuff. Lofrans requested pics of my windlass, operating voltage, and chain info which I sent back this morning. Hopefully I will receive a quick answer. Where did you purchase your Ultra?

Sorry, just saw your post on where you purchased. Thanks.

I bought directly from ultra but I believe I saw them at the boat show and worked my deal from there. It was so long ago it wouldn’t be relevant to share the pricing.

Just heard back from Lofrans regarding my Project 1000 windlass. The original max working load is 363 lbs (165kg) and expect a routine load of 260 lbs (118kg). They stated that I am good to go with the Ultra 27/60 anchor. Now to find the best price. Thanks for your comments.

You’re welcome. Please note that there is no best price. Just my experience. I hope you get better news than I did…… and can find it cheaper. This is an expensive piece of boat jewelry.

Don't forget this - https://www.mantusmarine.com/mantus-swivel/

I support Mantus 100% and I am a dealer for them. Unfortunately the model with the Roll bar just doesn’t work on the 460. I brought them to our boat and tried but ended up with an Ultra because of the pulpit.

The swivel works awesome but with the ultra I would use their swivel because it rights the anchor as it comes up

Does anyone know where to get these black letters?

I’ve looked everywhere including eBay. The ones in the pic are wide, appear flat, and are the same angle as Sundancer letters.
My buddy in Traverse City has made those in the past I do believe. I know he has made just about every other Sea Ray logo. Give him a call @231-322-8052 or email: alan@proimagedesign.net (email may be best so you can include the images.) https://proimagedesigninc.net/
He is also an avid Sea Ray boater!

I found a new Ultra 27/60 on Ahoy Captain for $2,475 which retails at Ultra Marine West for $2,749 so some decent savings. I am ready to pull the trigger but I read on the 42/44 DB forum that an owner installed a 21/46 Ultra and was very happy with it. I am wondering if the 27/60 may be too much anchor since I am replacing a 35 lb Delta? I wrote to Ultra and they recommended the UA27/60 for max performance, but also will warrant one size smaller UA21/46. So I am sorting through this. I am also considering the Ultra anchor ring, not so much to reduce anchor swing but for recovery of a stuck anchor given the investment. I did not see any response to your post on the subject. Was your interest in the ring more for reducing swing or recovery?

The 35lb was dragging and I needed something so I wouldn't be woken up constantly by anchor drag alarm. In addition I have the swivel and a bridle for much better hold.

I know it seems like a lot more weight but trust me, you'll love it. The 60 we as the and is the way to go.

In my opinion, 35 is far too small of an anchor for my boat.

Hope this info helps.

I anchor in mostly mud/sand in the cheapeake bay and also have all chain rode.
