Im trying to source an OEM distributor cap and rotor for a 5.7 Horizon MPI . Its crazy everyone is out of stock or backorder for a month. Any suggestions? Some of the ones on Amazon say they are OEM but in the comments you see they are def not. Anyone have a favorite supplier?

That's a very common cap (although I'm only guessing on what model year you have) for a Merc dealer to have in stock. Did you try a local dealer?

Thats what I thought
I think I figured it out. The original part number works but shows backorders or out of stock at major online retailers. But a new part number works and says in stock. I try to stay out of dealers / West Marine and their stupid pricing unless need it right away.
I ordered from one online outlet that said 'in stock'. But no confirmation email. Two days later I went online to check my account. It said order was backordered and expected to ship in about a month. I called to cancel. They said sorry we have to source it from the distributor and you are charged when the order is placed. They said I will be credited in 5-7 business days. So they sold me something they didnt have, lied about having it, then said nothing. Now they hold my money for two weeks while I order elsewhere. I asked 'Don't you see anything wrong with this sales processing model? I got the expected response. I called them pirates and hung up.

Says the guy who stays out of dealers and West Marine -- you get what you pay for.

You must be comprehensively challenged. I am buying OEM parts. The same parts. Just not paying as much for them. You just double bogeyed. What don't you understand?

From the looks of it, you're not buying anything. The place you went to charged you, and has your money, but doesn't have the part to sell you. You could have ordered from West Marine or the local dealer, paid the "premium," and probably had your item by now. Instead you're waiting a week for your "refund" and don't have your part. That's a triple bogey.

Now you've gone OB and missed the cut golfboy. Ill get the refund. Not worried and I can afford it. You dont need to worry! I just think its bad business practice from one of the biggest and well known online Mercury parts stores. The other large well known online store I used has the parts on the road to me now! Everything is working, this is a spare. So all is well. Now unless you have something productive and helpful to add, (you haven't contributed anything), go sxxt in your pants and leave us alone. To those that did, I thank you.
