CSR team,

I am excited to be a new boating ambassador to the Bahamas and to promote the up comming 2022 Bahamas flings. I will be hosting the first Bimini fling and the extended fling to the Abacos this year for sure. These are great opportunities for first time crossers as well as experienced cruisers to meet new people and see the Bahamas. The Bahamas tourism board helps manage and plan these trips and this year the excursions are going to be even better. We are already hard at work planning fantastic day trips and events for these flings that give you access to places most crsuisers never see. This years extended fling to the Abacos is filling up quick, we have 11 boats confirmed with only 25 spots. Our Bimini flings are going to be huge and a perfect opportunity for first time crossers in any boat to get a taste of the Bahamas. Get signed up now before it sells out....

I am also starting to plan a seperate "special" August one week Fling to the Exumas. If you are interested please let me know as we are going to put this together if we can get enough interest to go to Staniel Cay for the week.

As always feel free to either post here or PM me any questions....

Hope to see you on a Fling soon!!!!

My New boat won't be ready - but can't wait for 2023......unless a pachanga I'm looking at to "hold me over" works out, then I'll definitely try to make bimini for 2022!

Well, we will be going to the Abaco in early May. Plan to clear in at the renovated Walker's Cay.
You folks South of me will probably go into West End....

Yes the plan is to clear in at West end and spend the night then head for Marsh Harbor on Day 2

What's the new boat? Do tell !!!

Why such a big rush? That's a long run. You will miss some great areas between West End and Marsh....

Right now plan is to go to Marsh first for a few days, make day trips around there then head to Green Turtle and do the same. Not everything is back 100% as you know yet so tourism team working on marinas and day excursions.

Understand, we'll do a day or two at Green Turtle; they are back up and running and Hope Town. I understand Spanish is fully operational also. I've got spearfishing and conch haunts all around those areas.....
But mostly we will cruise and island hop; Double Breasted (my favorite), Fish, Alans, Nunjack, then an afternoon at Tahiti Beach and bounce off of Pete's Pub if time allows.
Do you know if they are rebuilding Cracker P's which is right across from Tahiti Beach?

Where is double breasted? Found the others, look like great places. Don't know about Cracker P's I will have to ask the Island manager and get back to you.

Double Breasted is about a mile east of Grand, two miles east of Walkers, and 40 miles north of West End. It is the most spectacular area in the Abaco.

Thanks for posting Grant. I submitted the registration form on their site. Do you know if I need to wait to receive a confirmation email? Said next step was to send a check.

Yes I know their website leaves a little to be desired but ..... You should be fine. Which fling did you sign up for? I will check with Jonathan and confirm for you. Yes go ahead and drop the check in the mail to their office.

I’ll look forward to your reports, especially how clearing at Walkers goes. We are planning to go mid June for 10-14 days. Can’t wait to finally get to do some island hoping along the way to GTC!

For the Abaco trip. Check is in the mail. Thanks.

This is great stuff. We planned on being in Green Turtle in the beginning of June but maybe we'll switch it up a bit. @ocgrant, I would have someone check with Port Lucaya Marina as they have been shut down and I'm not sure they plan on being open by June. Their sister marina, Grand Bahama Yacht Club, is open and has gas and Customs and is only a few hundred yards from Port Lucaya.

I Will check but pretty sure we are clearing at West End and spending the night there to leave early next morning to run to Marsh.

Grant - I forgot to mention you should have a backup plan if the weather is bad coming down through the eastern Abaco. Between Green Turtle and Great Guana you have to go outside of the islands (open water) to get around shallow areas in the Sea of Abaco to get to Marsh Harbor. It's a very short jaunt but that water can get flat dangerous if the weather doesn't play well. It would be smart to wait it out either on the hook or at Spanish or Green Turtle Club.

As an edit you go east of Whale Cay to get around. I've taken my 400DA at high tide through Don't Rock (west of Whale Cay) but it's shallow and not for the first timer; no way would I take my 52 through there..
