Bezos 417' yacht

I wonder why they don't get the vessel under the bridge and then put the mast's on somewhere else. With money being no issue I would think no biggie.
While I’m sure it could be done, wouldn’t you prefer to work where ALL your tools/equipment are?
Shipyard said it would be major hassle.

If I were the Rotterdam officials, I would say "sure we will take down the bridge then build one that will accommodate the largest vessel that Oceanco or any other builder on the river can imagine building in the future and give Bezo's the bill." The local community will gain betterment instead of just expense reimbursement.
At least he is not having the damn thing built in China or Tiawan by near slave and child labor. You know the Dutch builders are paid well and taxed accordingly.

Sad illustration Nerd Boy is just more estranged from the human race. I in no way envoy him must be very lonely. 400 plus feet and I doubt his friends would fill a 20 foot bowrider.

His real friends perhaps, but I'm sure he has thousands of Klingons to fill it.

I am glad he he beat the system. He out smarted everyone and made a fortune. More power to him.
Think about it, Sears was the Amazon. They just wasn't smart enough to morph over to the digital age. So in my opinion he is just a modern day sears.

Just wish it wasn’t so hard to NOT buy Chinese on Amazon.

I do use it, just try to be real careful.

The sad thing is, sears had the infrastructure in place 30 yrs ago to be a modern day Amazon. They already had a huge master catalog. They had stores/warehouse in every city. They had service/delivery people in every city. I even remember a campaign to reimagine the store about the time that Amazon was taking off. If they had just dumped that catalog onto the web and embraced it with lower prices, they would’ve been years ahead of everyone else.

I read somewhere Sears would not hire executives who admitted on interviews that they liked to read.

Its obvious to me no Sears executive read anything.

No I cannot. However slow GE has made a little
Progress.

Can you imagine how incompetent you would have to be to screwup Sears.... not unlike GE right now
You mean the Sears that was a household trusted name, that allowed its auto repair division to commit fraud? That was the beginning of their downfall.

Looks like the channel is around 20ft deep. Wonder if they could have dropped it below it's normal draft using something like a floating dry dock? Wonder how much more clearance they needed from the bridge?

A lot more ...

I wonder why they aren't stepping the masts on the other side of the bridge, but I'm sure they are not "ordinary" masts, and must need the full shipworks to get them up and connected.

Looks like the mast rotate and carry a lot of electronics. Still it seems like it would be simpler to assemble those off-site vs dismantling a bridge. But I’m neither a bridge engineer or a ship maker.
