My wife and two kids are coming down to the Inlet Beach area (between Panama City Beach and Destin) the first week of October. My brother has a beach house in Inlet Beach but there won't be room for my wife and I. Kids are staying at his house. Does anyone here know of anyone doing an Airbnb on their boats in this area or anyone willing to let us stay aboard their boat from Oct 7-10th? Basically just a place to sleep and let my wife see what it's like staying on a boat.
I grew up boating and have had boats on and off but my wife has never stayed on a boat so before we make the plunge and get us a boat I thought it might be good for her to at least make sure she can stay on a boat for a few nights. I'm open to paying whatever is fair.

Here's one option.

Take her on a cruise, tell her it’s just like that, buy boat, winner!

LOL good idea, that should end well!
Thanks Techmitch, I checked those sites, really nothing in that area being offered. Insurance seems to be the biggest issue.

May be challenging to find.

One of the challenges for an owner is the fact that even though the boat would not be moving, all of the systems on the boat are being used. This ranges from bad stuff getting flushed in the head to a key breaker (for example battery charger) getting turned off, even if by accident. What happens when the AC get a HF message in the middle of the night? Does a non boater know to shut it down, turn the pump off, and go clean the strainer?

Years ago when we were doing a lot of bare boat charters I had a person in the charter business explain what they looked for when evaluating someone for turning a boat over to for several days.

Ability to operate the boat
Navigation skills
Knowledge and understanding of the systems on the boat.

His perspective any one of those was a deal killer, they were all equally important. Sleeping on someones boat is not like staying in some one else's house or a hotel room.

This may not work out as you plan, depending upon how near you need to be to your children. Inlet beach is about 25 miles West of Grand Lagoon, the place most recreational boats in the area are docked. Also, traffic in the ares can be horrible due to rapid growth and very slow infrastructure development. I live on t he west end of Panama City beach ad we are 40-60 minutes from the Grand Lagoon area.

Going the other way, Destin and SanDestin are both about the same distance from the the Inlet beach area.

I've been in the area for about 30 years and I don't know anyone who rents a boat for overnight stays.

Thanks for the intel Frank. We did find a couple boats in PCB as airbnb (well, my girlfriend did and I still don't know how she found them) but they were smaller low 30s foot and like Frank said the traffic isn't conducive to being more than a few miles away from where you want to be.. Going to head to Destin to look at boats one day while we're here. Thanks everyone for your input.
